Re: [Cisco_CCIE_Lab] VLANs and VTP

U can use 802.1q protocol as the trunk protocol which is a ietf standard one .

If u want to make interVLAN communication then u need to give IP to the VLANs

u can make any one of the vlan untagged over the trunk link using the command "native vlan <vlan no> " command on the trunk link

Hi Guys,
I have a few vlan questions for you.

Example Scenario.
I have a 2900 switch with 3 vlans
I have added a second and third 2900 switches
I can use VTP to sync databases, I need to configure the connecting ethernet ports, with
switchport access vlan trunk
Question 1) Do each of the switches need to have an ip in the VLAN?

If I add a HP procurve, VTP and vlan trunking are propriety protocols.
Question 2) Are there any ietf standards for this?

Question 3)How do I "vlan trunk" on another switch?
leave the vlans on the ports untagged?

Thanks
Ben
