Karl Brutsaert Operations Analyst, Optisolar
Hayward, CA
On this month's member spotlight, Cleantech spoke with Karl Brutsaert of Optisolar. He is a graduate of Cornell University. Optisolar, which uses thin-film technologies, has announced plans to build an unprecedented 550 MW capacity plant in San Luis Obispo County, California.
How did you become interested in cleantech? I grew up in Ithaca where I was exposed to the outdoor environment. I have always been interested on the impacts of humanity on our ecology. After graduation, I started to study renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Why solar? It's the most abundant resource available. There's a lot of potential and it coincides with peak usage. And there has already been a lot of development in semi-conductor technology.
Where can we find out more about Optisolar? There's a lot of exciting things going on. Please check this out.
