Hi all,
I imaged Comet McNaught (C/2008A1) again last night (Oct 1.31-39) but with a
shorter focal length to try and pick up more of the tail. I used a 20cm (8")
Vixen Newtonian at f4.6 with a modified Canon 350D @ 800asa. 34 x 2.5 minute
subs were used. The tail is seen extending in a PA of 110° (ESE) for nearly 1
degree. North is up, east is left in this cropped image (~1.5°x 1°).
Comet McNaught is currently in the evening sky in the WSW from New Zealand -
about 30 degrees in altitude and about 15 degrees west of Antares. It is heading
roughly NE at just over a degree a day...
