Description

CommCenter Operations:

A discussion group for legacy fixed-station, tactical,
mobile, transportable and shipboard record message
military communications centers (CommCenters) involving
teletype, data (card and mag tape), crypto, tape relay,
AUTODIN, HF RATT, FM RTTY, CW and Tech Control facilities.

Discussions may include carrier systems: commercial landline,
VHF, RWI, MUX, Multiplex, Tropo, MF/HF radio, and field wire
lines. Interests range from the late 1930s thru the Cold War
era and the modern day DMS networks.

These may further include any military messaging networks
such as Common User General Service (GENSER), sole/dedicated
users and circuits, or any special "back channel" and DSSCS
operations. Also includes Radio Teletype Nets, Fleet Broadcasts,
Weather, or General Broadcast systems that might have handled
record message (printed) traffic in any military message
network or format.

This group seeks members from all branches of the US
military services, NATO member services, and US and non-US
Civil Service, who may have worked in or operated
Communications Centers, Data Centers, Switching Centers,
Nodes, Relay Stations, Technical Control Facilities, Crypto
Facilities, Radio Teletype Stations, and Maintenance
Personnel.

Our purpose is to discuss technical issues, share
information, history and personal experiencies and to build
up a system of working "Virtual" CommCenter emulators via
Internet Teletype, and simulated Mode I, II, and V AUTODIN and
the CommCenter list itself for the purpose of passing
military formatted message traffic IAW ACP-126, ACP-127
and JANAP-128. The idea is to have both fun, and enjoyment
while keeping Communications Operations skills, knowledge
and memories alive.

In that vein, your suggestions, opinions and comments are
always welcome and encouraged. Enjoy the list!

Best Regards,
SYSOPS and Moderators
