A growing number of members seem to have a wider interest in wild food and species, not necessarily wild relatives of crops. Many of these members are working closely with communities to learn more about such wild resources and are using a variety of interesting approaches.
A few years ago the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) in London had an interesting series of activities and publications under the theme of Hidden Harvest. Much of the work involved working with local communities to learn more about wild resources and how to value them. The outputs of these activities in the form of publications are all available to download online and they are very interesting indeed, especially for anyone looking for methodologies/approaches to engage communities on this issue.
Please check the website for more information, especially the Literature Review and Annotated Bibliography and 'Participatory Methodologies for Valuation. The files are too large to post.
Details regarding publications can be found at:
Many thanks to Michel Pimbert for prompting me to post on this.
