Modifying the "ART DI/O" as a tube head amp   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2886 of 3275 |

I've posted an idea over at www.head- fi.org about the possibility of
reconfiguring the ADC section as a headphone amp:

http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=110099

The "gain" knobs and "warmth" knobs could be all functional. The details of how
it would be done without affecting the DAC section have to be worked out but
should be fairly straight forward. I just wanted to see if their was any
interest from this DIOmod community in having this capability. I set up a poll
below:

Jim, Sorry about the late response. The tube stage is not the final one but an intermediate stage. The final output sums up two different paths (one solid...

Hirsch Your notes about the volume control not being very useful probably means that the gain has some minimum fixed gain for the ADC path...sort of makes...

... As I am using Dio to drive my K240M, I find the output (max level) is barely loud enough. It's OK when listening to pop/rap/rock music, but for classical...

I now have a first set of mods for the DI/O. For a maximum recorded level on a CD of 0 dBFS the modified circuit will put out a level of about 3.8V (14 dBu)...
