I've had the DI/O for a month or so and finally decided to try some mods after reading through much of the information on this site. They are as follows: 1)...
Joe, Good overview and I agree with most of your findings, but feel that the Op Amp should have the most significant opportunity for improvement of any of the...
Hello, does anyone know the output impedance of the AKM DAC chips analog outputs? I want to run it straight to a TVC, but will need to use a series capacitor...
Shane, I got this datasheet at the AKM site. It is for an evaluation board and they indicate the load resistance is 1K ohm minimum (Page 6). I have to send...
Rich, Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe I'll get a couple of IC's and perform the mod. As for your tube circuit, that should work depending on how modified ...
Shane, You actually don't need a capacitor at all. The output of the AKC chip is balanced. The + and - outputs are each at 2.5v, but with a transformer you...
Joe, I looked at the schematics a while back and the reason I lost some excitement was that you would need to keep at least two stages of the op amp in the...
Guys, I want to replace some caps in my DIO with BG caps but just don't feel like replacing all of them due to financial limit. Which are the most critical...
Switching between your DI/O and the McIntosh cannot sound the same, mods or not. Unless the rest of your system is a can on a string, and real differences are...
Gary, In the data sheet it says VA/2 '+/- a few mV'. Does this mean that the 'few mV' is distrubuted evenly to each side and that the difference between them...
Shane, A lot of folks have modified their DIOs with transformer outputs. The ones that are commonly used, Jensens and Edcors, aren't designed to handle any DC....
Gary, thanks for all the info. I look forward to trying it!. regards, shane ... designed ... has ... the ... doubt ... that ... saturate ... high ... fine...
Jack, I would only spend funds for the BG caps on caps that are directly in the signal path and possibly a small bypass for each power supply. Rich ... From:...
Hi Just got in a NEC CD Drive, for use as a transport for the DIO, to get around the DVD sync lock problem....there has been a lot of talk on using these on...
... What model is it? ... No, there should be a series capacitor there. What you may do is put a film capacitor instead, and try different values. On the...
-CDR 602. Looks like there is a small coil straight after the cap ... talk ... However, ... stripping ... a ... jumper ... put a ... digital ... NEC and at...
... <vaughst@y...> wrote: Hi, I too would be very interested in any mods/upgrades/even suggestions of such for the NEC CDR-602 6Xe Multispinners. When the 6Xe...
... The "small coil" is most probably a transformer. What size and shape is it? ........................................................................... ...
Actually, I'm not sure it is a coil now.....it is a inverted U shape, the silk screen ident for it is L602 I think. I have been reading further on using CD...
Its easy...simply remove the old one ...there are 5....I used an eletric solder sucker from Rad shack...its the one with the red rubber suck bulb... Drop in...
So, this weekend; 1) going to add a bessel filter a la Gary Bronner. No more attenuators!! 2) MIGHT fit some RCA's to replace the 1/4 jacks; looks a lot of ...
If you're going to play with those resistors make sure you only do it ONCE (damn small traces lift easily). So use good resistors and make sure of your values....
the only damage i did to my di/o's traces was to the op-amp traces, before i got a desolderer. i yust heated up the pins w/a soldering iron, & yanked 'em out...
oh yeah, i also agree to get rca's w/the nuts on the outside of the case - i wish i'd thought of this before i did mine. there's a coupla caps on the io board...
Ok, all went well, no problem with lifting tracks; you just need good desoldering braid. had to use RCA'a with internal nuts, but it won't be too bad...
Steve, See my comments below. ... You are very welcome. ... People have tried it both ways and there have been different opinions from different folks. Some...
Gary, This is one of the first "new" things I've seen in the past 6 months. Would it be possibly to write up an implementation document and post it to the...
