Ok, I don't have classact installed. I got the file off Aminet, and
there are two of them MUI and (something). Which should I install?

That's not a bug, that's on purpose. :-)

Too bad, it's almost working for OS4. :-)

Pah, I am pretty sure there are several who are way more qualified
for the job - it's only that I am doing it. :-)
And not to forget that your work with the prefs-requester showed me
how easy it is to bring up a Reaction GUI that looks nice.
Putting it to use in DM2 took more time. :-)

I am a little puzzled as well.
About the only thing OS4 specific in the input-handling
is the mousewheel support and this is encapsulated in
an "ifdef" statement so it's not even compiled into the 68k version.
But it may possible that I missed something on the way,
something that should be encapsulated as well but is not.

It looks okay here. Can you send a screenshot? I remember an old bug
where the box that displays the currently selected color (on the "Colors"
page) would always appear around the tabs. I wonder if that's happenning
again somehow?

My first guess is that msgs from the lister gadgets aren't being received
(or understood). I don't see why they wouldn't be, however...

Pardon my confusion with all the various releases. I've been using
2.1c for a loooong time, just discovered the DM2 website, and
downloaded one of the newer version and installed it without
remembering which version. It was 2.5.30c, and I couldn't find a
prefs requester, not like 2.7. The menu functions work fine in
modifying things. But I really like how you set up the prefs-
requester, and if you can get the commands and lister to work,
wonderfull!

Ah! Is that why this happened? I was moving some files off a CD, and
3/4 of the way through, it choked and wouldn't move the rest. I had
to re-highlight the remaining files and it moved them fine. Is there
a limit to the number of files you can copy or move in 2.5.30? Or is
there a setting to increase the amount allowed? I don't remember any
problems in 2.1c as to the amount of files you can manipulate.
Thanks.

Phew, I thought you were referring to the speed while using it.
Yes, if not in memory already, 2.7 (and 2.6 / 2.5.30) has to load
several additional components compared with 2.1c.
It may not even be possible to really squeeze 2.6 on a disk
with all the other components needed.
Upto 2.5.30 DiskMaster2 mostly relies on what can be found
in the ROMs, well, preferably the 3.1 ROMs.
In return DiskMaster2 for example is localised and can be iconified.
While using DiskMaster2 at least 2.5.30 should be faster than 2.1c.
Reading directories definately is but it only is noticeable
with lots of files.
With 2.6 I changed the text-rendering in the dir-listers in preparation
to use proportional fonts which maybe made things a little slower.

No, its got the 3640 and 8megs of ram, so its middling. Its just the
difference between 2.1 and 2.7, whereas 2.1 pops up imediately,
whereas 2.7 loaded slowly. But, whats a second or two between friends?
8) The speed at which it lists the contents in the lister is still

This on the other side shouldn't happen.
Jody designed the prefs-requester to work with V41 classact
and for 2.7 I only remove some minor things
as well as localising it.
Does the 2.6 prefs-requester work for you?

Hrmm, the buttons adapt to the font-size, the fonts should fit in any

Not my hard work all alone, I had and have some help.
And if Jody does not come up with something I missed,
I am afraid that I am running out of options.
Okay, a small service-release to 2.6 could be done
but most of the new code in 2.7 was for Reaction anyways.
In addition I also checked MUI again and was a bit suprised
to see that the lister-class only supports a single scroller-bar.
Strange.
Well, I still do not like MUI, just beeing a little desperate.
What we all need is affordable and available new OS4 hardware...
Regards - Rudolph
Hi Rudolph.
I gave it a test try and it didn't work too good. Commands wouldn't
function, and clicking on directories or files in the listers wouldn't
result in any action happening. If you bring up the preferences,
there's a box blob over the files menu choice. Although, you could
change colors and modify things ok.
Interesting new look though. It runs a tad slower on my A3000, and
with the little boxes that the commands are in, the fonts don't fit so
good. Guess I need a better font to go with it.
Thanks for all your hard work! You rock dude!

Just to be sure, this is 2.7b10.
Basically, severely broken. At first I thought my old config was the
problem, so renamed it and rebooted. At least the buttons look nice!
(Hey! A real Prefs window, too!)
Nothing is active, command buttons or listers. I can select files, but
not enter directories or make any action upon files. Menus are working,
though. (I'll have to test if a menu command can be used, with 'Copy'
for example, to see if the selection is actually being read.)
If Ingo means sorting by date, etc. I can report that at least this
works from the menu here.
Not sure what you need to know about classes, mine are all from OS3.9
Update 2 (if updated). For instance:

I am trying to hold on to the promise I made that I won't
stop releasing for 68k that easily.
I'm not sure what I would have done if I knew what I ran into.
It's not like there are lots of alternatives for GUI toolkits.
And the seemingly most popular - MUI - I like the least.
Not that there is any updated SDK around, only old 3.8 stuff.

I've done some tests under MorphOS, and selecting any entry doesn't have any
impact, files/directories are not being recognised as selected, and sorting
doesn't work, too. I'm using listbrowser.gadget 42.632.

Hi!
I put a test-version of 2.7 for 68k online:
http://kazong.privat.t-online.de/DiskMaster2.7_68k_test.lha
Unfortunately my system is not clean enough to test it
properly myself, I have too many components from OS4 installed
although every single one is way outdated by now.
It should come up normally except that the dir-entries all have
the same color.
This should be something minor, for some reason the render-hook
to fix that does not work anymore - for OS4 this hook is not needed.
With ListBrowser.gadget 50.13 from 2004 however I can verify
a problem that got fixed for the later OS4 versions,
double-click on the typ of list required for DiskMaster2
does not work properly.
I only get double-clicks when selecting an already selected entry.
So one has to make tripple-clicks on not selected entries to
switch the directory for example.
Can anyone with V41 or V42 classes confirm this?

fantastic with the first release.
Life does come first though. I need to clear some space when I have the

There are so many image viewers for Amiga that I am
pretty sure some have this functionality. In fact the first viewer I wrote a script for, FastView,
was able to load anything you fed it to in the background and presented
the next picture after a keypress. I am only afraid that this is some nasty AGA software.

I can't even tell. I have about 100 disks stored somewhere but the only
way I could use them would be to dig out my A1200 as well, not

Thank you! I seem to be luckier with my disks. You must live in an

Yes, I took a look at your startup scripts, and there's stuff I can

I prefer the e-mail list. I find it a lot easier to use than support
boards since I do not have to log into it to read or write messages
only open the email program.
However the program works well.
The thing I would like is some sort of sequential image viewer as in
linux, where you bring up the first image in a series and there is a
next button on the viewer so you can move to the next image which
replaces the one you are looking at without your having to close that
one. With Amithlon when looking at too many pictures at a time, which can
happen if you highlight a bunch of them in multiview, you can crash the
machine, plus you have to close each one down.

Which version of DM2 is this then?

Easy:
makedir ram:env assign env: ram:env
Better - get env-handler from Aminet and install it,
takes more space on the disk though.

It certainly saved my day a couple of times when I
still used my A1200. But I could not even read the disks anymore I prepared
back then, if they are still readable at all.

My config in the archive has some lines for LZX. Auto-commands as well as menu-entries.

up these days.
No, not really, LZX is dead for years now, no-one
should use it for anything else than un-archiving. The new LHA versions are nice, don't know if there
is any 68k one of 2.12 though.

That is exactly what is DM2 is for. :-) Okay, apart from copy/move/delete/rename/... :-)
