I did not know when i bought it that i would need to;
purchase ARCSOFT program to share and do stuff with my own videos...
or had to buy a memory card
so both things cost me extra$$
30 + 30 = 60
I think this video recorder should have automatic access not where we
havwe to pay $30.00 to use the programs to get the videos in the share
& tranfer mode[ other than youtube]

There isn't much of a discussion about this light simply because the now
"old" models did not have a tripod screw hole.
They finally appear to have fixed that oversight, but honestly, I'd rather
they would work on the low light issues and an actual optical zoom instead.
I've still to decide on a replacement as these 3 items (as my camera lacks
the tripod capacity) hinder my usage, and while I would consider a DXG camera
as I do love my little gadget, this company is preventing a lot of sales due to
these lacks in their hardware.
Heck, my normal picture camera has tripod, better low light and optical zoom
capacity. It's not the same or the same video quality, but between the
choices I have, I have been using my DXG camcorders a lot less because of this.

I am really surprised there was no discussion on this topic. Especially with all
the other
posts related to low light conditions etc.
The Targus Video Light is only $6 and screws into the tripod connector. It
helped a lot for
my daughters use of her camera.

Sure. Here's a quick clip of my sweet 98-yr-old grandmother in normal
indoor light, shot this past April at about 10:30 a.m. My white
balance was set on "cloudy" and my EV compensation was probably set
near the upper limit, +2.

Not yet, but I have a video on Youtube:

I cringed a little after watching this. The LCD is so small I didn't
realize I was zoomed in so close. I'm used to larger LCD screens. I've
been practicing framing in my DXG though.

You should be able to use a DXG camera with a Mac for all the normal
functions like viewing photos and videos. The degree of compatibility
depends on which specific camera you have. One thing that you probably
can't do is use it as webcam, since there are no Mac drivers for that
function, as far as I know.

I bought the Targus Video Light for my 9 year old. She has one of the DXG's and

tripod
connector that your out of luck. The Targus light connects via the tripod

For $6.00 I am pleased. The only thing I would also recommend is get
rechargeable
batteries (AAA) for it.

Just click remind me later and that will get you past the nag screen.
You don't need quicktime to put your videos on youtube. Just copy them to
your computer with my computer or the scanner and camera wizard then upload
them to youtube.

The 567v is a brand new model and you're apparently among the very
first to own one. But according to the spec sheet, the camera
produces only MOV files. All the MOV files I've ever encountered are
playable within Windows Media Player 10. I don't know why you'd need
QuickTime at all unless you're using a Mac.
I must say it's odd that DXG would produce a low-priced camcorder
that creates 1280x720 video when their image sensors are so
notoriously poor. I'm sure the lens and sensor are incapable of
living up to the expectations of HD resolution. The first Amazon user
review of the camera, posted a couple of days ago, says pretty much
the same thing.

Good question. There is a likelihood that the camera driver won't be
compatible. But I don't have access to Vista machine, so can't test it.

3 things
1- don't leave batteries in it.
2- if you are not using rechargeables, get some. I have the Duracells one,
as they are the highest ratings of mAH, and I just got some Ray-o-Vac that
are hybrids alkalines-NiMH that are supposed to be very slow discharge (when
not in use)
3-if you are using rechargeables, then this could be normal, NiMH do
discharege when not in use... and two months could be right for the brand
you use.

I was surprised at the difference in image capture between the 305v and new
506v. When the light is low, the 305v produces extremely dark and highly
saturated images; while the 506v produces much better exposures but with
much lower color saturation. There's not nearly such a dramatic difference
between the two in well lit outdoor scenes. Is this what you see too?

And I'd have to say that without comparing the new and the old version, what
you've stated is what I've observed between the cameras, so I'm figuring
that there's probably not much difference between them.

You need to be more specific. Which camera are you talking about? What
are you trying to do that isn't working on your Mac?

3 things
1- don't leave batteries in it.
2- if you are not using rechargeables, get some. I have the Duracells one, as
they are the highest ratings of mAH, and I just got some Ray-o-Vac that are
hybrids alkalines-NiMH that are supposed to be very slow discharge (when not in
use)
3-if you are using rechargeables, then this could be normal, NiMH do discharege
when not in use... and two months could be right for the brand you use.

months, or not. Is there a solution?

Might want to check DXG Japan, I think I saw at least one firmware
upgrade on that site but don't remember the camera model.

Interesting - I've never heard of Centrios before. I'll have to check
that out.
Regarding firmware updates, I doubt that DXG has ever made any
available. I don't remember ever seeing any, but you should proabably
check the official DXG support center to be sure:
