Hello everyone!
Today marks 44 years "the candle burned out...but her legend never
will." Who else could I mean but Marilyn Monroe? Will we ever know
what exactly happened that night? Does it really matter if we do?
Personally, I think the answer to both questions is a resounding NO.
Marilyn will always be remembered for the times she had, good and bad.
She will be remembered for her sweetness, her warmth, her
preserverence. To quote the song......"Goodbye Norma Jean, though I
never knew you at all, you had the grace to hold yourself while those
around you crawled....."
Another candle that went out today 51 years ago was that of Carmen
Miranda. Most people, when they hear that name, get the image of the
cartoonish "chiquita" banana girl. Carmen was a very underappreciated
singer and actress. She was a very vibrant personality and I wish her
music and movies were a lil more accessible. A great talent we
certainly miss!
