Hello everyone!
Goodness, it's been so long since I have been able to get around here.
Things have been really crazy where I am and, unfortunately, I have not
been able to keep my group the way I like to have it. I apologize for
that. As this situation plays itself out, I'm not sure when I will be
able to return fully, but I will try my best to come as often as I can.
I have missed adding new designs and I can't tell you how proud I am to
see that they have been missed. Thank you for the compliment and I
really hope to be back and running very soon. Until then, I hope
everyone has a very safe and happy holiday season and hopefully, I will
see you around next year!!!!

dani has emailed me to let me know that she  doesn't have the internet
access she used to, but hopefully will again soon.  she will get back
as soon as she can,
she is missed that's for sure

There are so many things attached to this date. Seems almost all of
them are bad too.
Where to begin? September 11, 2001 is a memory that many of us will
never forget. Try as we might, it is etched in time and in our minds as
one of the darkest, scariest times we could ever have imagined. The
events of that day showed us both extremes of the human experience.
There was the dark side as we had never thought possible, but there was
also the bright side as so many rushed to help those in need. Many
heroes and legends were also born this day and for that, we should
remember what they did.
September 11, 2003 was another very sad day for the world as it was the
day John Ritter passed away. John was such a personality and he gave
his all to make people laugh and feel good for the time he was on the
screen or in the room. He is still very sorely missed, but thanks to re-
runs, he hasn't completely left us.
Yes, today is a day of sadness, reflection, and remembrance. May these
events be learned from and never repeated!

You don't need to be a fan of opera or classical music to recognize
this name. He has to be one of the greatest artist of the 20th/21st
century, a force of nature he bridged the gap between opera and
popular music with his collaborations with artists from all over the
world. He brought his gender of music to worldwide attention and it
seemed like he'd go on forever yet sadly has now been lost to cancer
age 71. The music world has lost one of it's biggest stars

I, for one, CANNOT BELIEVE it has been a full year without The
Crocodile Hunter! Steve Irwin always seemed so alive and he had such a
passion for all he did. One year, but he will never been forgotten! I'm
sure he would be so proud of how his wife and his daughter have tried
to pick up his torch. There were 4 women that meant to world to
Steve....his mother, his wife, his daughter, and his dog. He has two of
them by his side and the other two have him in their hearts. We miss ya
mate!

Today marks 6 years that the R-n-B singer Aaliyah became the angel we
all miss. 6 years?! It seems like yesterday! Such a terrible and
senseless tragedy, but her voice is still heard and the movies she
completed are played all the time.

The big day that everyone has been talking about the past couple months
or so has finally arrived. Today marks the 30th anniversary of the
passing of "The King of Rock-N-Roll" Elvis Presley! What can be said
about the man, the myth, the legend, the icon for so many? His voice,
his eyes, his persona, his silliness, his appeal.....even 30 years
later are unmatched. Elvis will live forever for the fans who grew up
with him and the new fans who discover him everyday.

Just in case you haven't seen it all over, the mogul of game shows, Mr
Merv Griffith has sadly passed away at age 82. A great link to so many
of the famous legends that have passed on, he will be missed, but his
shows will go down in history. Not bad for a guy who sang.."I've got a
lovely bunch of coconuts......"

Today marks the 45th anniversary that Marilyn Monroe passed into
eternity and became the renown legend she is today. Everyone is so
hyped up about the year being the 30th anniversary of Elvis' passing
that Marilyn and Carmen Miranda are not getting much mention. Today
also marks 52 years that we lost the Brazilian Bombshell as well. Both
women were remarkable entertainers and just nice people. Please take a
moment to remember them both.

Today marks the birthday of a very special Latina who is often
overlooked. I'm talking of Miss Lupe Velez. If you can't place the
name, she was one of the first Latina Divas of Hollywood in the 1920s
through the 1940s. You can see her in my banner I just made.
Lupe was the Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, and Eva Longoria all rolled
into one of her day. She was smart, funny, talented and a real
beauty. She really could sing, she could dance, and she could act up
a storm. She started her career in two reelers with Laurel an dHardy
before being cast with "the" swashbuckler of the day, Douglas
Fairbanks in The Gaucho. After this movie, Lupe worked steady in
dramas for about 5 years. Then, she started comedies. Her career took
off and she starred in a string of movies known as "The Mexican
Spitfire" series. These movies were hugely popular, but by the time
the 8th and final one came out, Lupe's popularity was wanning. You
see, Lupe came out of a failed marriage with "Tarzan" Johnny
Weismuller. There were always rumors of Lupe's escapades with the
leading men of her movies. She and Johnny were married for 5 stormy
years. After all this, Lupe went back to Mexico (she was born in
Mexico) to regroup and she did Nana. The film was not the commercial
success Lupe had hoped for, but she garnered the best reviews of her
career. Lupe came to Hollywood to make Ladies Day and she found out
that she was pregnant. At this time, she was seeing man who many
called a leech from the start and he dumped her basically when she
went to him. Unfortunately, Lupe, so full of life and vitality, took
her life one December night. Such a sad end for such a true talent.

*Side note here.....there is a wild story(that I will not repeat now,
but you can look it up if you want to know)about the night Lupe died.
From what I have been able to piece together, this story is not true.
From what I've been able to find, this story started with a movie by
Andy Warhol and the story has stuck. For most people who even
remember Lupe, this is the only reason they do and believe me, She
doesn't deserve that.

It was announced last night that famous character actor, Charles Lane,
has passed away at age 102. Many people may not recognize the name, but
one look at his face, and you remember him from his many "Grouchy old
men" characters. He will be missed!

Hello group!
Today marks 50 years that the original Mexican superstar---Pedro
Infante---passed away. He is still very much missed for his music and
his movies. He will always live on in the hearts of the fans the adore
him so.
Today also is the birthday of one bewitching television star, Elizabeth
Montgomery. She would have been 74 today and probably still as
enchanting as ever.
One other enigmatic star who really seems to have believed in "always
leave them wanting more", Ms Greta Garbo is also remembered today. It
has been 17 years since she made her final appearance, but she will
never be forgotten.
Our last remembrance today is for a great comic foil to one of the
greatest comics of the 1970s. Don Bexley was better known as Bubba on
Sanford and Son. He, too, is missed!

The title of the newest CD and DVD from late artist Selena. The CD is
supposed to give more rounded look at Selena's career and to show how
her talented blossomed. The DVD shows her at her best, working the
camera and singing and dancing. So much promise... and then........
As the saying goes, the candle flickered but the legend won't go away.
Selena too will never go away. Why you may ask? What did this singer do
that was so great? Why is she so revered 12 years after her death? The
answer to that is quite simply, what didn't she do?
Selena was a woman of determination and talent. She sang, she danced,
she acted, she designed and she set a standard for all who have come to
know her. English was her first langauage and yet she was mainly known
in the Spanish speaking world. She gave the youngsters who looked up to
a bit of themselves back and showed them that it was OK to say yes, I
am different, but I'm still worth knowing. She was brown angel who
helped those like her to find their identity and see how beautiful that
identity can be. That is why we miss her so very much. As long as she
is remembered, she will never go away. She will always the glittering
angel who talked to all people to find the good in yourself and those
around you. You will be much happier that way and that is all Selena
would want of her fans.

Thank you Miss Dani for your wonderful tribute to Andy Gibb. Andy and
his brothers (the Bee Gees) were a big hit back in the day. I liked
some of Andy's music although I favored more of his brothers. I found
it hard to believe Andy had died so young. To think if he had lived he
would have joined his brothers as a quartet. There was talk and a
possiblity of Andy joining his brothers in an album before he died, but
sadly it never came through

Two new stars are in Heaven now.
The first one is a comic who tragically took his own life. I'm talking
of course of Richard Jeni. His death was a shock to all who knew him or
heard of him. I remember watching him when I was a kid and he was
always good for a laugh. It's a real shame that his end had to be this
way and he will be missed.
The second is a brassy blonde burst of energy from the 1940s and 1950s.
None other than the incomprable Betty Hutton. She was loud, she was
funny, and she seemed like she would bust through the screen or through
the microphone. No one could sing and dance like she could and she will
be remembered as an all around entertainer!
