I was just doing a show for my Coolpix 3200. Maybe I once understood
this, but hadn't used the program in a while. Regardless, I found the
numbering and ordering of my output completely incomprehensible.
I started with a folder of Nikon and HP JPGs. This was from a trip
where two cameras were used. The filenames were prefixed with the
location. This comes from a DOS dir command showing a few of the 100+
files without resorting.

In Windows Explorer I had them sorted by date. In TVWriter, if I did
OpenFolder and chose the folder described above, the output would be
in some order unrelated to the date or name. I futzed with checking
or unchecking Numeric Sort but that didn't help. It also didn't help
that there's no way to preview or stop a conversion once you do
File/OpenFolder. Same problem if I did OpenFile and dragged and
dropped the files.
Eventually I created a separate folder with the files all copied but,
in addition to the names like shown above, I used another program to
prefix a 3-digit index number, ordered by date. In the above example,
the first file would be 001_Zambezi_DSCN0292.jpg. Again, OpenFolder
gave me some ordering unrelated to name or date. Maybe it was the raw
DOS order, but I don't think so. If I did OpenFile with numeric sort
checked and dragged and dropped, I got an output in the right order
one time, but not another.
I just can't figure out how to regularly create an ordered output to
match names or dates. I also don't like having to add a prefix to
have even a shot at a usable output.
I'm hoping I've just missed some simple instruction and someone can
set me straight.
