Hello All,
Practices that I have engaged in for the last two years may relate to
the idea of going beyond "knowing" for facilitators, help them get in
the flow (e.g. go beyond "ego") and may be of interest to Dialog
Mappers.... I have been doing Qi-Gong, "releasing emotions" (using
Hale Dwoskin's so-called "Sedona Method"), plus various types of
meditation....
Although I began these practices primarily as a means to improve my
health, I am now continuing the practices because they help me do
better under stress, and surprisingly, have also helped me become more
efficient and effective at work. My work activities include
facilitation, but are broader--I believe I can now listen better,
focus on what is most important, and waste little energy on less
important inputs and activities.
My sense is that it is not that my abilities have grown, but instead,
that by doing these metaphysical practices, the impact of mental and
psychological "noise" on my mind is reduced. I may also be more
creative than I used to be, but I would have a hard time proving
this....
Perhaps others can also benefit from these kinds of practices and
become better facilitators...
regards, Marcelo Hoffmann
P.S. on a very different note, I wrote a piece on "wicked problems"
for Wikipedia, where I quote the work by Horst Rittel and describe
Jeff's on Dialog Mapping.... You can find the article it at:

Feel free to improve upon it.... Collaborative authoring is the whole
purpose of Wikipedia... (I first practiced by adding to the
Wikipedia piece on "Douglas Engelbart"....)
