Thanks for all your input on the best spelling for the key word in the
title of the book. Although several people made some good arguments for
the shorter spelling ("dialog") in the end the strongest arguments favored
the longer spelling, "dialogue." One of the strongest arguments was made
by the publisher, saying "For Wiley books that
use American spelling, our house dictionary is Websters, which actually
gives dialogue as the preferred spelling, with dialog as an
alternative." So, it's actually not a US versus British spelling choice,
but more formal versus more colloquial.

A couple of people suggested that I map out the arguments for the two
spellings in the book (i.e. in the Introduction), and I'm playing with that
idea.

My favorite suggestion was to change the title of the book to "Rappin' and
Mappin': Gettin' down with Shared Understanding", a third option that
avoids the problem and opens the book up to a new audience!
