But you may have seen the email and checked out the website and thought, "Hey, I took the Dialogue Mapping Workshop -- I've already got that issue mapping thing down!"
Here are some reasons for Dialogue Mapping Workshop (DMW) grads to take the Issue Mapping Webinar Series (IMWS):
1. Fluency with IBIS -- and particularly with creating succinct, open questions on the fly -- is 75% of successful dialogue mapping, and the IMWS builds that fluency systematically, just like a good language course.
2. Issue maps are not just a novel form of meeting notes: they are a new communication medium which registers in a different part of the brain than text and in which graphical structure conveys complex relationships clearly and simply. The new webinar series is a writer's workshop on creating great maps, maps which stand on their own and tell a story.
3. A big part of knowing a craft is being skillful with the tools of the trade. Both Compendium and bCisive offer tremendous capabilities and are easy to learn with a bit of coaching. Participants in the webinar series will become very proficient in both of these tools.
4. Over the last couple of years my dialogue mapping practice has brought me some exciting new skills and insights about "map management" -- how and when to create submaps and transclusions and how to weave them together for different purposes and audiences.
If you have already taken the Dialogue Mapping Workshop, then I especially invite you to sign up for my first truly international training program. The series that starts on July 16 is set in the morning Pacific time, so that Europeans can participate; the next series will be in the Fall and will be timed so that our friends in Australia can participate.
Sincerely,
Jeff
