This site is for the proposed project of a "modeler's space race" and meant to be both fun and serious.
Serious because one of it's intents is to honor the fallen from Apollo, Challenger, and Columbia by doing something in the spirit of adventure that the space program once had (and hopefully can have again).
Fun because it's nominally in the Star Trek genre. The original space race was the USA and the USSR trying to out do each other. Those same countries were in disguise as the Feddies and Klingons, and they were trying to out do each other. Okay, we got the shtick covered. Of course other Trek races and SF genres are more than welcome.
The rockets are real, even though "mere models". The ultimate goal is reaching real space (100km/62miles). It's already been done by the Civilian Space Exploration Team, so now it's our turn to try. Failing that it's whoever gets the highest. To the victor goes insufferable bragging rights.
During the moon race we all shared in the magic and adventure, here we're trying to bring it back.
