Moderator,
If you set the group to first postings moderated you won't have this kind of spam getting through.  You may have to occasionally go in and edit someone to never moderated if they have several good postings that still kick to moderator but for the most part the first post of a spammer will be spam.  You will have to approve it and you can ban the member and reject the spam.  This works very well on my groups.
