Maurice, I went on the yahoo web site that I suggested you join and I did not
see any evidence of you asking question of the group since the below email dated
June 9th 2009, perhaps your email was lost somewhere on the internet super
highway!!

I can't answer every question I get on and off the list personally though I try.
That is what the list is set up for is for people building the EDM to share
there experiences.

If you don't ask question no one will answer.

There are many builder in the UK using 240 V 50Hz so it can and will work with
Europe power.

As described in the book the transformers are rated at 12.5 VAC at 2 Amps. The
formula is Power is equal to Current X Volts. This can be scaled up or down by
changes things such as transformers, rectifiers, power resistors and caps to
meet your needs.

The control circuit does not care about the power being discharged across the
gap so it will work with large and small power discharges.

Not sure what you mean by "sledge" but as I said in the first email below I use
a DC gear motor to position the electrode.

On another note

Some of the recent discussion on the list indicates that the control circuit is
not a true window comparator circuit.

This is not true, the control circuit is described in the book is a "TRUE WINDOW
COMPARATOR" circuit though it is not wired in the traditional configuration.

When properly built there is a VHigh and a VLow to the window though you can not
adjust VHigh and VLow by conventional means.

By changing the value of R11 it increases (or decreases) the width of the
window effectively changing VHigh and VLow, a 6.8K resistor is about the largest
value I suggest for R11 and 1K the smallest.

When operating "in the window" the servo motor is turned off and does not move
which is evident by looking at the LED across the motor driver output, The LED
will NOT turn on when in the window, Or by visually placing a piece of tape on
the motor shaft to witness the motor shaft movement or if you have an O-Scope
look at it with the scope. If properly built this control system functions as a
true EDM control system.

It is NOT a "drive down to the electrode is shorted and then pull back and then
drive down till shorts" etc etc.

Ben
