Hi,

Is there any support for scrollbars in EMOS? Or do i need an EVAL
statement for that? All i would need is a line/page up/down
functionality, just like a push button.

Thanks,

Hi All,
I hope you can help me.
I am new to the EMOS Framework.
I want to be able to set a cell of a html_table using the framework.

I believe I can use the FRM_TBL_cell_action function.

I am slightly confused about the parameters for this function.

I would like to pass the action and rows and columns from my
spreadsheet. I believe I can do this by the command ~S~#1~#2.

Where do I pass the logical name/physical description of the table?

Do I use ~S~#1~#2~class: object,MSW_class: html_table,location: 5} ?

Thankyou in advance for your help

Hi all,
I hope you can help me..

I want to be able to click on a cell of a html_table in my application.

I believe I can do this with the function FRM_SET_DATA

I have used this function in my function/test block.

FRM_SET_DATA(TABLE, TEST, "nav_table");

nav_table is the logical name of the the html_table I wish to click a
cell in.

In the test block of my spreadsheet I have the following:

~.S~#1~#2
I want to select row 1 column 2.

I get a Winrunner error message saying that object: 1 is not in the
GUI map.

Have I used the correct syntax?

Any help would be appreciated.

OS : XP
Winruner: 7.x

Hi,

replace  FRM_SET_DATA(TABLE, TEST, "nav_table");
with  FRM_TBL_set_data_block(TABLE, TEST, "nav_table");

You should download the MercToursWebDemo
(http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=107000&package_id=144781&\
release_id=306970)
and check the data\table1.xls and scripts\lib\frm\frm_lib1_lib (
function FRM_search_results_tbl1) for an example.

Also, tables are sometimes strange beasts that behave differently on
different browsers.
One problem encoutnered was the differing number of rows (with /
without heading row).
In this cas you may try placing the
FRM_TBL_set_rows_count_adjustment() befor the call to
FRM_TBL_set_data_block(). For comments look in EMOS_FRM_tbl_lib.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,
dean

Hi Venkat,

it is difficult to mix GUI checkpoints with EMOS Framework becaus of
one WR bug (well, feature) when it comes to the location of the
expected files and/or test results while usin call or call_close
commands and while mixing between interactive and batch mode.

I don't have time to go into details of this problem which you might
probably experienced yourselves already without EMOS Framework.

If you still want to mix GUI checkpints with EMOS Framework follow
this guidlines:

  1) keep your GUI checkpoints in separate (i.e. standard) tests.
  2) call these tests from EMOS Framework via CALL instruction (CALL is
similar to LINK, for example CALL~myGuiTest).

If WinRunner complains about not being able to find the checkpoints,
then you have reached the trouble point. Try by running the whole test
suite in UPDATE mode (this wil generte new expected results in
different directories). After that your tests might work fine.
However, you will most likely have lots of troubles in future so you
will have to investigate how WinRunne really behaves (the way WR
behaves is sick, but that's it - we cannot chage it. The best thing I
found is to avoid it (which is one of the reason EMOS framework wos
created in the first place).

Best regards,
dean

There is no direct support for scroll bars in EMOS Framework.
The quickest thing is indeed the EVAL instruction.

Another possibility would be to add another set of commands in style
of FRM_button_press or so. If you come with something of that sort,
please share it with us (I don't have time to try it myself).

dean

Thanks Dean,
I have already downloaded the MercToursWebDemo.
1. The Tours demo is no longer on-line.
2. In the example there are no selection of table cells.

The FRM_SET_DATA_BLOCK() didn't work either. With or without
FRM_TBL_set_rows_count_adjustment()

I tried to debug and the error is happening in FRM_TBL_determine_row
()

Is this function needed? if I comment this call out, and create the
variables r and c from row and column, everything works ok.

I have another problem however, can I select a different cell in a
different table from the same test block?
i.e. I want to select a cell from one table, and in the same test
block select a cell from a different table.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind Regards,

P

Unfortunately. I have found no time to port the example to the new Tours.

> 2. In the example there are no selection of table cells.
You are right. Your code ~S~#1~#2 is syntacticaly perfectly fine.
However, "select" command does not make much sense on html tables
(because you can not select cells on such tables). You can check
content with D or DCHK and select embedded radio buttons or check boxes.

Additionally, you must make sure that #1 and #2 realy point to
existing coordinates. If you can, try on some table that is big enough
(e.g with 3 lines try ~DCHK~#1~#1~xxx and check the test results.

> I tried to debug and the error is happening in FRM_TBL_determine_row

Yes. This function is absolutely essential. Check what happens with
your parameter "#1". It looks that for some reasons 1 gets taken as
the logical name of the object?!? Sounds as some parameters are
incorrectly placed.

No (well, if you know the hart of it, then yes for some circumstances
- but this should not be used). You should handle only one table per
table block.

dean

In MercToursWebDemo, I found about EMOS Framework Table Patterns, but
there is no lib of FRM_TBL_xxx, such as FRM_TBL_set_data_block(). is it
in EMOS_GPL directory or MercToursWebDemo package? but I haven't found
it in either of them.

Thanks in advance.

Those functions are part of the EMOS core and are
located at <WINRUNNER INSTALL
DIR>\lib\EMOS_GPL\FRM\emos_frm_tbl_lib

I met such kind of problem too. In html table, there is a checkbox in
row 2, col 8, which I want to tick. In my spreedsheet, I wrote:
~B~#2~#8~ON, or ~.B~#2~#8~ON, or ~:B~#2~#8~ON, but all of them don't
make sense, and there is no error in test report. why?

In fact, I haven't success in any operation on table through emos table
patten, but I think it is very usefull. Anyone can help me?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot. I have found it in EMOS GPL v1.4.2, but it doesn't
exist in 1.4.1

Hi Shiny,

please look carefuly in table1.xls of MercToursWebDemo and make sure
the following is correct:

1.) specify the object (i.e. try ~B~#2~#8~1~web:html_radio_button:0)
2.) implement the table block exactly as in the MercToursWebDemo
3.) if the table block spawns across multiple rows, then fill it from
top REMEMBER first emty cell stops further evaluation of test data

Point two and three are because you've mentioned there was no trace in
test results.

Cheers,
dean

Hello,
Im trying to do Hello World demo.

I am sorry what is INTERACTIVE RUN MODE? In my Winrunner, there are
3 modes: debug, verify, and update.I chose the Debug mode(Is that
the same as Interactive? I dunno)

So far, I have:
1.Set start up script by going to General Options-startup
2.Ran the startup scrip and then exited Winrunner.
3.Restarted Winrunner and got"cannot run 2 instances" msg which i
ignored.
4.Add in window came up which I ignored.
5.Startup script didnt start up automatically which I expected...Is
this normal?
6.Opened and ran in debug mode the kickoff_new _style
script.Everything went well.
7.Reviewed the results window+analyzed data.

Please comment if I did something wrong.

Hi,
there is a listbox on a web page that looks like this:
<select name="aName" class="input">
   <option value="0" selected>  </option>
   <option value="1">01</option>
   <option value="2">02</option>
   <option value="3">03</option>

   <option value="4">04</option>
   <option value="5">05</option>
   <option value="6">06</option>
   <option value="7">07</option>
   <option value="8">08</option>
   <option value="9">09</option>

   <option value="10">10</option>
   <option value="11">11</option>
   <option value="12">12</option>
</select>
I'd like to check if the listbox entry has the value 0 (which is true
in my testcase).
I'm not successful by using CHK aName #0 as entry in the Excel
Worksheet. The test result is a 'mismatch' exception.
Is there another possibility to compare to the 'blank' value?

Regards Holger

To check for an empty value ("") you should place <clear> in the Excel
cell.

However, your example shows that the first value is not empty but
filled with one (or two) blanks. In this case place one (or two)
blanks in the cell.

dean

If you use WR 7.5 or above, then you canot use the AddIn mechanism
because mercury requires the AddIn licence.

You should unzip the distribution file in <wr install dir>\lib
directory. After you've done this you should see the EMOS_GPL
subdirectory. That's it.

You should unzip the demos, set the appropriate startup file and
everything should work fine.

dean

"Interactive mode" is the oposite of "batch mode".
See "Tools\General Options\Run" and search for "batch mode" in User Guide.

This is not OK. You shoud try to figure out what is going on here.

> 5.Startup script didnt start up automatically which I expected...Is

No, it's not. Check the path for the startup script in General Options
dialog.

Please note that EMOS Framework is rather advanced technique. You must
first spend some time with WinRunner basics before continuing with it.

Convert both to strings, create the function to capture and compare
the values and use EVAL to call your function.

"scripts/startup" is not the menu but the path of the startup script
relative to the project root. For example if you install
HelloWorldDemo into C:\WR directory, then "scripts\startup" means
"C:\HelloWorldDemo\Scripts\startup".

dean
