Thanks for a very quick response to my query, I think what might be
the problem is that I've used the mercury tours version of emos and
added my bits of code and data and perhaps I should take a vanilla
version and add my own elements.

So I will start afresh and see how I get on.

There are several options you can try:

1) RAM is allways good. 1024 MB should be OK
2) Winrunner has some delays to set (User Guide)
3) at least the application may have long time requests (i.e.
Web-applikations)
4) WHen all things are ok can help some defragmentings of the HDD

I never faced a real problem in time with EMOS Framework or TSL at
all. Only at the starts of the testrun it needs some time when the
data to load becomes huge. So then  it might be better to split the
Testsuits for testing development.

Hi,

Both tools still stay seperated.

It is yust a bundle that can be get together as a test suit. The
Functional Testing testsuit. You can implement a call to each other.
That should not bother anyhow implementations of the EMOS solution in
Winrunner.

Hi Kalyan,

The dlls in emos framework are not vital for its function.
The source code for these libraries is not distributed.
However, the external functions that are used in WR can be found in the
corresponing test
code as external declaration (search for "extern").

The only really interesting dll is re_func.dll which contains Misha's great
integration of
Pearl-like extend regular expressions for WinRunner. The other few dll you can
eaasly
ignore (or even delete if you have security doubts) without much loss of
functionality.

i placed EMOS folder as specified and when i am trying to run
Flightdemo example i m getting script run failure..... ..

i tried all ways and when i cancel with out giving any input when i am
running script in interactive mode(verify mode???????? ???????), filght
demo is opening but i am not able to understand what all files get
change and how to track this frame work and what exactly this
framework will do?????????? ????

Hi,

as already stated you should get version 1.4.2
Head over to emos-framework.sourceforge.net to get it.

Besides even version 1.4.2 is NOT implemented as a WR Add-in!
For Emos to appear as a WR Add-in you would need to create an init
script (this actually is already there), and include it in the
registry. We are going this way to be able to turn EMOS ON/OFF on the
fly from Quality Center, but I don't think you will need this! (Yet we
are willing to share this to everbody if the main developers want to
include it in a later release.)

Just read the manuals included in 1.4.2 and you should be nice, I made
it too ;)
The startup script has to point to the project specific folder.
i.e. c:\emosprojects\someproject\Scripts\startup

This will setup the default variables like GUI_HOME for you...

The project code is included in the package as an example.

I am still can't see EMOS Add-in while launching the WinRunner. Below
are the steps I performed:

1) Installed "EMOS_Framework_1_4_1_3.zip" under `C:\Program
Files\Mercury Interactive\WinRunner\lib'
2) Here is the location looks like after un-zip the
file `C:\Program Files\Mercury Interactive\WinRunner\lib\EMOS_GPL'
3) I changed the path in the startup script as `C:\Program
Files\Mercury
Interactive\WinRunner\lib\EMOS_GPL\FRM\TPL\Scripts\startup'.
4) When I launch the Winrunner, I didn't see the EMOS Freamework
add-in.

Could you please some one let me know, which step I am missing.

If I remember well, in last six years we had trouble only once with
new version (when timeout was chanded from seconds to milisecons). In
principle everything should work fine in 9.2. but we can only know
once we tried it.

Unfortunately, I stll had no access to 9.2. but I expect to get hold
of it next week. I'll keep you posted. In the mean time, whoever can
try it, please do so and let us know.

I was yesterday on an BTO summit in Munich from HP.

I ask that question. And they said winrunner will still working in
Vista.(They show only  QTP in a Keyword driven solution) So when
Winrunner works,all of it should work with EMOS framework too.
Or what is your opinion Dean?

MaC is right: we need to know more to help you.
Please provide an explanation of the PROBLEM together with an example
if possible. It is likely that you don't need descriptive programming
at all.

By the way, yes, I am integrating MaC's changes into the new version
of our Framework (it just takes  more time than I can find at the
moment, sorry MaC).

Hi,

you can just pass the physical description of an object to any WR
(GUI) function, and it will do just fine (the same way as if you pass
an Object from a GUI map).

Yet I am not sure if it is a good practice to use descriptive
programming in WR :/

What exactly do you want to achive?

Also please note that there will be an update to EMOS, which makes
writing every single keyword obsolete.

After tring to make our test scripts suit to EMOS we have some issues.
So we worked little more than present in EMOS to make our work easier.
Out of all we came up with a solution which I think will work for EMOS
framework. Instead of the key words in idx keeping in single array(idx
[]) we thought of another array(idy[]).
After applying our solution, idx will store only function name key
words and idy will store only the parameter values(I can explain this
if any body wants to). So  the constraint of non repetaion of idx
values is now resolved. If any of you are interested in this patch
they can contact me so that I can provide to you.
