I've been going through the verifies sent to me for the last couple weeks, and have been starting to send out notes to a few that needed a bit of help. So, some more traffic should be going to the site soon to help us all.
I also found a couple lists that have actually disappeared, so will be removing them soon.
VERY WELL DONE to all who have been sending these verifies in!
I've been finding that some folks are using varying ways to run this. For example, one newsletter has been choosing one ad from a category page of ads, then putting a link under that ad like "for more Freebie lists...you can go here", with a link to the site page of Freebies groups.
I find that's pretty cool, myself. For anyone that misses directly promoting other friends maillists, you're welcome to try something like that. As long as there's a link that goes SOMEWHERE to the Ad Swap site itself, all is fine.
Other groups have just incorporated one of the site's front page ads into their template so that it goes out to all their issues. Saves them the trouble of changing ads, yet completely gives their members a place to go when they have the letch to shop around for some new lists to join.
If someone else has any good ideas on ways to promote this, do please share.
Some folks have reported getting very few new members...others say they are doing very well. I know that with my own 10 different groups that I run I'm getting a total of about 100 new members a week, from 1 or 2 to 20 each. The amount each of my groups gets changes weekly. That's probably because different ads are being run, which get members visiting different areas of the site each week.
