on that will require those with an Environmental background. Those

will serve as consultants working with Booz Allen clients.

The opportunities I post are exactly what I am working on at that time.
The locations are listed with the opportunity and the candidate should
either live a commutable distance from the location or be willing to

The primary location for the positions I have will be in San Antonio,
TX. Sometimes there will be other locations like N. Carolina or
possibly Florida (again should that occur, I will list with the
posting).

I felt the need to post this as I am getting resume and correspondence
from those seeking opportunities and locations outside of what was
previously listed. Although I do understand taking a proactive approach
in sending your resume for potential openings, I do not want to waste
your time by not being able to assist you. So please, only forward your
resume to me should your background match the openings.

General skillsets that are always helpful would be candidates with at
least 3-5 years of experience working in an Environmental capacity.

That would include those with (at the least) a Bachelor degree in
Environmental Engineering or Science - Geosciences or Civil Engineering

Skillsets to include: Environmental Restoration, Environmental Science,
experience with RACER, AFRIM, ACES, Hazwoper, CERCLA, RCRA, ACEE,

Dear All,
Advance wishes for Christmas and New year.
I'm an environmental engineer working currently with Degremont Limited as
marketing professional in Bangalore, India. I also have field experience by
running water and waste water treatment plants.
I'm seeking an opportunity outside India as i wish to relocate. I have a 5 yr
daughter as dependent. I have applied to some of the jobs in Australian Region,
but haven't got positive response. As my specialisation is water and waste water
treatment, O & M and marketing, i feel i have few opportunities. I'm expecting
some information regarding openings in middle east or Australia. Any suggestions
are also appreciated.
Thanks,
Regards,
Shilpa.

Founded in Boston, MA in 1998, the Urban Ecology Institute is a
non-profit organization dedicated to helping urban communities in
Massachusetts build healthy and vibrant cities by educating student
and adult residents about their neighborhood environments, connecting
them to each other, and engaging them in the transformation of their
communities into healthy places where people want to live. UEI
currently operates two divisions, the Education Program and the
Sustainable Cities Program.

Based within UEI's Sustainable Cities division, CityRoots is a grant
program that provides technical and financial assistance to
volunteer-led community groups who want to improve their
neighborhood's yards, streets and parks. In 6 years, CityRoots has
worked with 28 community groups, comprised of over 550 residents, on
more than 40 projects that have transformed front yards, streets,
parks, vacant lots, median strips and other precious urban landscapes
into beautifully restored green areas.

In 2009 the CityRoots program has been modified to allow community
groups to leverage more dynamic ecological projects and make deeper,
longer-lasting connections with each other and with local
stakeholders. The new, longer-term model will allow more time to
engage these groups in various aspects of building social capital and
sustainable living practices. In addition to supporting neighborhood
greening projects, workshops and trainings will be offered on topics
such as energy and water savings, low-impact design and community
organizing.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Two CityRoots Project Coordinators will be hired to provide technical
assistance to awarded CityRoots groups in 2009. This is a full-time
contract position beginning May 18, 2009 and ending October 9, 2009.
The Project Coordinators will be based out of UEI's office in Newton,
MA, and will work under the supervision of the Sustainable Cities
Program Manager to coordinate and implement the CityRoots program.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

CityRoots Project Coordination
• Provide hands-on technical assistance to volunteer-led, urban
neighborhood groups as they organize, develop and implement their
community project. This includes: coordinating project logistics and
on-site trainings; facilitating and leading community meetings and
workshops; building and maintaining relationships with various
community groups and stakeholders; researching, explaining and
implementing low-impact landscape design, planting and maintenance,
and various energy, water and waste management techniques.
• Broaden the educational components of the program so that residents
are aware of, and are able to implement, the range of sustainable
living options available for the urban environment. This includes
building partnerships with various experts in each topic to provide
consultation, on-site trainings and workshops.
• Maintain project budgets and write reports.
• Implement ongoing monitoring and evaluation plan to analyze the
ecological and social impacts of the program.
• Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners in the
Greater Boston area, including community organizations, government
agencies, and other urban greening and environmental groups.

General knowledge and skills:
• Bachelor's degree or work experience equivalent, in: community
organizing; urban forestry or landscape design; environmental science,
engineering or education; or a related field.
• Strong communication and presentation skills: ability to
persuasively convey the importance of environmental stewardship to
diverse groups including neighborhood organizations, workshop
participants, and other program partners.
• Strong organizational skills: ability to simultaneously coordinate
multiple project logistics and workshop implementation; ability to
manage and track multiple budgets.
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to build constructive and
effective relationships with a wide range of people including
neighborhood leaders, youth, seniors, municipal partners and others.
• Knowledge of and commitment to social and environmental justice.

Preferred knowledge and skills
Preferred candidates will have some, but not necessarily all, of the
following experience:
• Work experience with under-resourced communities; project
coordination; facilitating group meetings, trainings and workshops;
and/or coordinating volunteers.
• Knowledge of, or experience with, implementing sustainable living
practices; sustainable landscape design; urban tree planting,
identification and care; and/or other elements of urban greening.

Position Requirements:
• Flexible schedule: flexibility is necessary when working with
volunteer groups, including working on evenings and weekends.
• Performing outdoor manual labor in New England weather during
spring, summer and fall.
• Ability to make good on-the-spot decisions based on analysis,
wisdom, experience, and judgment.
• Ability to act independently and communicate effectively within a team.

weeks on a full-time, contract basis.
