TX Bill is DEAD!

Thank you to everyone who called, e-mailed or faxed their opposition
to this TX bill.

The American Paint Horse Association, APHA, testified in FAVOR of
keeping the slaughter plants open. The APHA needs to know that they
do not represent the position of all of their members. If you are a
member of the APHA & oppose slaughter, please write to them and
inform them of your position.

Our website has more information on what you can do to help end the
slaughter of America's horses, a living symbol of our proud American
heritage!

Contact Information for your Elected Official

Vote Smart

Inform your elected officials of your opinion on horse slaughter.
Make sure you tell your elected representative what your involvement
in the horse industry is, and the names of any organizations that
you are a member of. If an organization that you belong to is pro
slaughter, MAKE SURE you inform your representative that this
organization does NOT represent you on the issue of horse slaughter!

If you don't tell your elected official that these pro slaughter
organizations do not represent you on the issue of horse slaughter,
these pro slaughter organizations, such as the American Quarter
Horse Association, American Paint Horse Association, American Horse
Council, and the American Association of Equine Practioners will
tell legislators that THEY represent YOU on the issue of horse
slaughter! Now is the time to let your voice be heard!

EPN is asking you to withdraw your financial support from any
organization, business, and company or magazine that is pro
slaughter, or who is opposed to the ending of the slaughter of
America's horses.

Cruelty Investigations

Currently the EPN is assisting law enforcement in 2 horse cruelty
investigations involving 5 horses and ponies and their owners'
failure to provide necessary food, sanitary shelter and veterinarian
care.

In another area, an equine vet that asked the EPN for help has been
able to obtain the assistance of the PA State Police in a cruelty
investigation. This is after years of failed attempts to have the
local humane agents investigate numerous cruelties over a period of
several years that have resulted in the deaths of several horses.

The EPN's position is that owners need to be prosecuted for the
cruelty that they inflict on their horses. Owners should not be
rewarded with money by selling their horse and dumping their problem
onto someone else, who then has to pay to rehabilitate the horse, or
who has to make the difficult decision to euthanise the horse.
