Hey, anyone seen these options on exchange 2000? I have some clients that
are wanting to review the migration but are etrn based right now.. with isdn
connections..
Thanks
Now Dave, everyone got copies of it at MEC, and this is a good place to
share information. If you're not interested in the beginnings of the
product, you're welcome to delete the messages about it. I, for one, am
very interested. I'm also jealous, since I haven't had a chance to install
it here yet...

You manage your users through the Active Directory. Using E-mail is just
another property of an user.

If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
Hi there,
I think I've really messed things up now :(
We have a Win2K domain with 3 domain controllers in it. One used to be
running Ex2000 (let's say 'server2'). After my debacle with Instant
Messaging (you might have read about it in an earlier discussion on
microsoft.public.exchange2000.general), I chose
to reinstall the server.
During the reinstall part of Win2K RC2, the server was mistakenly given
another name (let's say 'server4'). This server was promoted to domain
controller and all worked fine (as far as Win2K was concerned). The
information about server2 was removed from the domain.
During the installation of Ex2000 on server4 (the new machine), the
ExchangeSA fails to start with the following error-messages in the
event-log.
- Attempting to start the ExchangeSA
- The DSProxy failed to start, error '%1'.
- Unexpected error An unknown error has occured. ID no fffffffd Microsoft
Exchange System Attendant occured.
The System Management Tools are installed on server4 (that part worked ;-)).
Using the System Management Tool, I notice that after a while information
about server2 (which has been removed) becomes available in the 'First
administrative Group / Servers'.
It seems that the Active directory has information about server2 which is
replicated to the new server4.
My question is: How can I remove information stored in the Active Directory
about server2?
I'm not sure if this has any to do with it, but ...........
During the initial installation the schema was updated. The schema-master
was NOT server2 but another domain controller (server1). Looking at the
schema, shows
that the information, which was added to the schema initially, is still
available.
I hope anyone out there can help me on this one, cause I don't want to think
about reinstalling the entire Win2K environment yet ;-)
Thanks in advance

This doesn't work anymore in EX2000 :(
There is something about "streaming" files in the help. I think that it has
to do with the conversion of the file for MAPI clients.

I'm starting to wonder though what kind of hardware you need to get this
running on a decent level.

So far the kit is only available in US and Canada.
Got response from the US support team that the local MS distributors need
to be contacted if you want to order the kit if you are outside the US.
MS Benelux doesn't have any information about ordering the kit....neither
have they responded to my mails I've send to them. :(((

Reading through the documentation it's not clear if you can put a Exchange
2000 server in the same site as a EX55 box.
Anyone found more on that?

Would be nice to have something extra then the 'roadmap' which MS included
in the download.
Anyways...the site is up...still pretty empty though. If you guys have any
ideas then send it to me :)

I ordered the Kit. So I'll have the training materials when it arrives.. I'd
be happy to share any of the material (electronic) with anyone who is
interested.

A co-worker tried it on RC1 and he didn't get it running. Since MS notes
that you need RC2 I assume that they have a reason for it.
Don't know what the differences are between RC1 and 2 though ...

Martin,
Am I correct in assuming that you need Windows 2000 RC2 to run EX2000?

I have the privilige to send the first mail (if you don't count the test
mail I've just send) to the list ;)
Has anyone already installed EX2000? I'm waiting for my new box to arrive,
but that gives me some time to read the 'scarse' documentation.
First thing I've noticed is that you can't manage EX2000 systems from your
EX5.5 admin box. That means two admin tools *grr*
