Notes:   Firepics members are reminded that like all Yahoogroups there are no fees involved (at least not at the present, June 2008). Although Yahoogroups no longer stores attachments in the archives, every member of Yahoo also has a free mail account with unlimited storage. Each group's photo and files sections have 100 MB of storage, with less than 1/4 of that space used as of June 2008. This group is a good backup to the www.Firepics.net site that many of us also belong to.

The only thing I could find even close to that name is Derstines, which is in Bucks County.  I searched every town, city borough, etc in PA and couldn't find a Derstine or Derstine fire co.

Notice that the firefighters have their own assigned "reporting marks"  MCVX preceeding the car number of 3390.  Those marks are assigned by the Association of American Railroads.

Also, the Chemtrec logo on it reminds that only once in my career of dispatching for our police and fire in my town that took me from 3/12/1975 to 7/31/2009 did I ever have to call Chemtrec.   In May of 1975 one of our local Civil Defense (now Emergency Management) coordinators conducted a surprise drill involving an overturned US Army truck just off a main highway, driver in Army uniform mumbling and green gas coming from cannisters labelled with the nuclear radiation symbol.   Chemtrec notified the Pentagon (Join Chiefs of Staff, Secretary of the Army, Secretary of Defense), Atomic Energy Commission (now called Nuclear Regulatory) and The White House.   The soldier turned out to be an actor and the truck came from a movie supply company.   The CD Director had to explain himself to the Secretary of the Army a few weeks later for not letting the Pentagon know it was a drill.

While out today, I saw the Massachusetts Call/Volunteer
Firefighters Hazmat Safety train parked on a track
adjacent to the siding at Natalbany, LA on the CN McComb
Sub.

Total consist was three tank cars, one boxcar and a flat
car with various tank car domes and fittings.

That looks very much like LA City Engine 74s 1941 Kenwoth/United 1250 gpm
pumper except that the photo you have looks backward (Engine 74 had the
ground ladders on the officers side and the pump panel on the drivers side).
