I still carry my Rex6000 around with me, but a new mobile phone that
syncs to Outlook with a 3.2Mp camera built in means that instead of
phone + camera + MP3 player + FM radio + Rex I only need one device
and with 2Gb storage a big step up from the previous devices.
I am looking to change my Win98 laptop and hence get WinXp. I do not
know if the Rex 6000 will work with XP. My desktop will mirgrate from
XP soon and the new hardware lacks a serial port. Can the Rex sync
with Office 2007?
The Rex has been so useful over the past 6 or so years but maybe it
has run out against the struggle to keep it working with new hardware
and software.

I may still have the files you need...it may take me some time to find
them...
I had owned 3000, 5000, 5001, and finally 6000's.
It seemed like every time I had to reinstall XP for whatever reason and
updated it with Microsoft that it became more and more dificult to install
my Rex.
I finally gave up and bought an Ipaq..not as small, but much larger memory.
I'll look for the files and burn a disc for you..I'll let you know and then
you can give me your mailing address.

Hi David, I have the original cd. Are these file on it ?
Ciao,

5000-tsplus.exe and 5000-tsci-starfish.exe and 5000-rexw2k_100.exe
these three files are required for installation under WinXP but are no
longer posted at Intel. If anybody would email these to me, or give

I need 5000-tsplus.exe and 5000-tsci-starfish.exe and
5000-rexw2k_100.exe. Does anybody have them? I would be most
appreciative. My harddrive died and I have to reinstall everything
under a new WinXP OS. Otherwise I've got to give up and go to 6000.

Gee, reinstall the OS a couple of times and Windows starts to behave itself. I've got it working! Now if only I had an easier path between my favorite PIM applications on the Mac side and Intellisync under Windows. Well, that's my next project...

Had the same problem and it resolved itself once I figure out the other
application that was using the com port that the Rex was using. As I recall,
I reinstalled the printer and put it on another port.
Sorry but that's all I can remember..it was some time ago when I first
started using XP.
Some times it seems that it takes several tries to almost force the software
to behave!
I have had all models of the Rex and have gone from Windows 95 to XP
installations and it works, eventually, will all of them.
Can't help much though, with a Mac.

Hello again,
Okay, now I've really hit a wall. I've tried to install the REX on
my wife's PC, just to have a means, even if convoluted, of
transferring data on and off of it. But it's doing the same thing
there!! Can anyone help with this most perplexing issue? Might it
work to use a serial cradle and a USB to serial adaptor? I'd rather
not have to buy such a cradle ($20 on eBay, plus shipping), so any
other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Best,
Geoff.

Hello everyone,
I just got a REX6000 from eBay. (There's a little bit of a tale
there, but I'll let that wait for another time, as it doesn't have
any real bearing on my current issues.) At this point, I'm quite
pleased with the unit. It's a bit on the slow side, but I don't mind
that. I really wanted and like the form factor.
The problem that I'm having, though, is that I can't get the
software to recognize the fact that I have a cradle plugged in. Now,
my system is not your standard system, but so far as I can tell it
shouldn't effect things. I have a Mac PowerBook with VirtualPC
running Windows 98SE. Under system properties, I can see the cradle
and it is recognized as the REX6000. But when I launch REX Tools or
any of the other software, it tries to connect with the REX for a
minute then pops up a dialog box prompting me for a COM port number,
but the COM port drop down list is grayed out (see screenshot).
Anyone have any ideas?
This VirtualPC method is meant give me a workable solution. But,
what I'd really like to be able to do is get access to the
information on the REX directly from the Mac OS X side of things.
Even if I'm accessing raw text files, I can deal with that. Anyone
have any ideas about how to go about doing that?
Thanks in advance for any assistance that you can offer!
Geoff.
I have gotten as much as a year and as little as 15 days out of the battery's in
my two 6000's. I also watch for battery's Thay have a long shelf life left on
them. i think the life has allot to do with how long the device is left on
during the day when not in use. Mine got switched on on it's own some of the
time. You might try a different brand of battery. I herd that that can help in
some cases.
Paul
I have purchased replacement batteries for my Rex 6000 on:-
5th October 2005
6th February 2006
21st April 2006
Even four months is short as normally they last 8 to 10 months. But I
have barely three weeks out of the current batteries and it pops up
with less than 5% left.
If this a fault in the Rex 6000 or is it possible that the batteries
are faulty. The last three sets of batteries are the same
manufacturer, or at least the engraving in Japanese and English is the
same. The previous batteries to that where Sony.
Gerald
I have succumbed to the pull from PalmOS. As such, I am now in the position to sell my Rex6000. In excellent condition, with all the standard parts/accessories and original packaging.
Any offers (around the £55 please). ps: I live in the UK.
How did you do that? Get it to work on XP I mean.

the 'help' instructions read as follows: "The Tools | Merge Cardfile

another. In the Merge Cardfile dialog box, open the cardfile from
which you want to add cards." see what i mean. what the hell

I don't know exactly what could be the correct price for it. I paid

be ok?
Paypal could well accepted.
