Dear Sir,
The rapid growth of information technology has thrown up enormous
opportunities in the growth of digital libraries (DL). Seeing the potential
of leveraging IT as a tool for learning and bridging the knowledge gap, we
have already conducted two international conferences on digital libraries
since the year 2004 with varied themes successfully with overwhelming
response.
The Third International Conference on Digital Libraries (ICDL) is being
organized during 23-26 February 2010 jointly by TERI and IGNOU. The theme
of the Conference is “Shaping the Information Paradigm”. The conference
will focus on creation, adoption, implementation and utilization of digital
libraries, e-learning and a knowledge society. Special conference sessions
and tutorials shall be devoted on the theme related aspects to the digital
library, the technologies applicable in open and distance education system.
There are more that 50 International speakers will share their view. Please
join there to share your experience.
In view of your experienced and valuable professional contribution, we
invite you to submit a paper for conference session and tutorial proposal.
We solicit your experienced and valuable contribution for the successful

If i have understood clearly, maybe this could help you...
Do you know Marc Edit ?
http://oregonstate.edu/~reeset/marcedit/html/index.php
it's free and focused in Marc Records, have a Z39 interface, import/export
registers, and others functions.
Other option, is Openbiblio: http://obiblio.sourceforge.net/
Is an almost complete free software and open source for libraries.
Anyway, if you don't need all resources, you can use only the catalog module:
Basic Mode (only forms) and Marc Mode (tags etc). Its possible import Marc
files.
But i don't know how to export (I think there's a patch or some additional
module to do this). See the add-ons and patchs page, or forum.
Finally, if you utilize the browser Firefox, install the Zotero www.zotero.org
plugin. With this, you can create you own library in your computer and
synchronize with the server. You can import MARC files. I think that you want
one simple and free tool, this a good choice. Try ;)

Hey friendly catalogers,
I am in need of software that will create Marc records and will also allow me to
create shelf list files based on the data, and it needs to be pretty
inexpensive. I am independent of a library, and I don't need any circulation
software or an OPAC interface.
Bibliofile looks good but it costs too much.
SmartMarc will create the Marc record but I can't export it in any format but
Marc or Microlif.
Any other possibilities? I need the data input to be fairly simple and not based
on Marc tags.
Thanks in advance,
Adrienne

After the overwhelming success of ICDL
2004 and ICDL 2006 which were organized by TERI, New Delhi, it was felt
that such an event could be an extremely useful tool to bridge the digital
divide that exists in this part of the world. It was able to create awareness
and enthusiasm among the community.
Keeping this in mind TERI is planning to
organize the 3rd conference in this series, ICDL 2010, during 23-26 February
2010. The conference will also aim at further strengthen the academic collaboration
and strategic alliance in development of DL in the world. Theme of
the conference is Digital Libraries: Shaping the Information Paradigm’.
This conference is expected to be a major
forum focusing on digital libraries and related technologies and issues.
The areas of digital library and knowledge management are still nascent
in the developing countries but with great potentiality for development.
This conference would, therefore, facilitate exchange of ideas and help
bridge the knowledge gap in these areas and sustain the knowledge thus
gained. It is expected to become a platform to bring together a galaxy
of experts, researchers, academics, students, and others.
Taking into account your expertise and
interest in this field, we would like to invite you to speak at this conference.
Participants will greatly benefit from your long experience. We would also
be grateful if you could let us know the topic of your presentation.
An urgent and favourable response is solicited.

Dear collegues:
These articles have been free published in the section SIGNATURES of the
Documentation Sciences Foundation (www.documentalistas.com):
1-Title: New trends in Distributed Computing at the Extremadura Research Centre
for Advanced Technologies. The Virtualization approach.
Abstract: Scientists are demanding more and more computation resources every
year. Their requests have been partially solved by using distributed computing
techniques where several institutions collaborate increasing computing power.
2- Title: Conceptualizacion of Science.
Abstract: Science as a discipline, as one of the components of human learning,
has been widely studied, among many, by Federico Mayor, Vernadsky, Eloy Terrón,
Gutiérrez Ríos, Henri Poincaré, and other of various convictions.
3- Title: Science as a System.
Abstract: Today, precisely because of the vast evolution in science with the
subsequent repercussions on the activity of the human brain, which as a greater
capacity of abstraction, strict compartmentalization can no longer be considered
valid. Different fields of knowledge are interrelated and interdependent. For
this reason it has once again become fashionable to apply the Systems Theory to
any activity of the human intellect.
