Description

The Geographical Information Systems Specialist (GISS) position is part of the Incident Command System's (ICS) Planning Unit. This group also encompasses the National Incident Management System (NIMS). The GISS group is dedicated to the dissemination of information to the entire GISS community regardless of agency or nationality. The GISS position as it currently stands is regulated by the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG), an interagency organization in the United States.

This group intends to disseminate pertinent information for responding to any level or type of incident- be it wildfire, earthquake, flood, or other disasters. This group is not officially sponsored by any agency or organization.
