FPS in SoCal – Software Engineer (3D Max Tools)
Digital Artist Management is currently assisting a high profile
Orange County game development studio in there search for a solid
Software Engineer (3D Max Tools) for a new original First Person
Shooter franchise for the next generation consoles. This group
already employs a solid engineering staff, but they are looking for
a few more additions to ensure it remains second to
none.
This Southern California developer is located in a prime beach
area. They are committed to supplying its team with the best

This Software Engineer (3D Max Tools) will play a significant role
in executing the vision of this next generation IP.
SOFTWARE ENGINEER (3D MAX TOOLS)
Requirements
• MUST HAVE 3+ YEARS OF GAME INDUSTRY OR RELATED PROGRAMMING
EXPERIENCE
• Develop file formats for game engine
• Knowledge of 3D Studio MAX SDK, Win32 SDK, MFC
• Design tools and plug-ins to maximize efficiency of asset
creation.
• Implement the Following:
 Windows-based tools for art pipeline and asset management
 Platform-based tools for art pipeline
 Plug-ins for 3rd party content creation applications
• Develop solutions for unforeseen design problems
• Share knowledge and help solve problems with other team
members
• Visual C++ (and/or .NET), object oriented and ANSI C
• Managed C++/C# experience (.NET Framework)
• Awareness of current trends in tools and development
A.I. PROGRAMMER
Requirements
• MUST HAVE 3+ YEARS OF GAME INDUSTRY OR RELATED PROGRAMMING
EXPERIENCE
• Knowledgeable in AI algorithms.
• Strong experience with C++ and STL.
• This engineer will be working with the lead designer to
determine the feasibility of AI features and to make them easily
modifiable by designers
• Extensive knowledge of the following AI techniques:
o Path-finding/navigation, Perception, Scripting, control
mechanisms, Expert systems,
Emergent behaviors, Flocking, Rule-based systems, Fuzzy logic, etc
• Implementation and Design and of tactical and strategic AI
behaviors.
• Implementation of advanced path-finding algorithms.
• Ability to planning character movement and strategy AI for
game-play scenarios
• Develop editor tools for designers to implement game design
related to character AI
• Research and implementation of core character simulation and
artificial intelligence.
• Experienced in designing and implementing character AI
systems in games.
• Strong object-oriented design skills and math skills
SOFTWARE ENGINEER (AUDIO)
Requirements
• MUST HAVE 3+ YEARS OF GAME INDUSTRY OR RELATED PROGRAMMING
EXPERIENCE
• Ability to write clear, maintainable, portable code.
• Self motivated with demonstrated ability to work efficiently
and independently.
• Strong time management skills with a proven ability to focus
on priorities and solve problems. Must be able to accurately assess
time requirements and complexity of assigned systems. Must be able
to design systems thoroughly and break into manageable tasks.
• Ability to collaborate as member of a team and work toward
team goals.
• Experience in one or more areas of game technology with a
specialization in one or more of: sound systems, 3D sound modeling,
sound occlusion, platform specific hardware and SDKs, MIDI systems,
streaming audio.
• Must be able to work closely with sounds designers, and
programmers to develop compelling technology that enables innovative
game systems and features.
• Must be able to write and maintain robust reusable
components and documentation for common systems.
VU GRAPHICS ENGINEER
Requirements
• MUST HAVE 3+ YEARS OF GAME INDUSTRY OR RELATED PROGRAMMING
EXPERIENCE
• Passion for games and game development
• Refactor existing micro codes for PS2
• Implement graphic design features.
• Support graphic content pipeline on PS2, XBOX and GameCube
• Write graphic creation tools
• Build an effect system in game
• Fulfill PS2 Technical Requirement Checklist requirements
• Work with and maintain a set of proprietary application
tools
• Strong C++/C programming skills
• Detail knowledge about PS2 hardware and microcode
• Advanced 3D graphic background for console platforms
including being well-versed in lighting, shadows, animation,
particle system
• Proven experience having facilitated game engineering
process by turning abstract game concepts into real tangible tasks
• Ability to distill complex systems into easy to understand
diagrams, charts, and storyboards
• Object oriented design skills: can break down complex
systems into modules and define interfaces
• Computer Science or related degree (e.g., Math or
Engineering) preferred
