I guess I am fairly new to Macs, coming to them from years of PC and mainframe experience with the early G4.

My understanding was that GS used Spotlight to make its "lists" through search, and therefore if I delete one template it might be taking the item into trash (sometimes) but continuing to display it. It would be better if the "list" was excluding trash though.

So we are in the position I have to keep deleting, then deleting trash, refreshing view to be sure it has gone.

I don't use auto relist.

It sounds like you are new to Macs as well as GS.
Spotlight does not delete anything.
Think of spotlight as the "Google" for your hard drive, it's a search engine.
As to the deleted templates, after you delete the template are you going to the GarageSale menu and choosing "Empty Trash"?
Are you setting your auctions to auto re-list?
