Hi Steven,

Sounds like GarageSale cannot find or access the images used in your templates anymore?

Maybe it's just an issue with your access permissions. Did you try running the "Repair Permissions" command in the Disk Utility?

If you go to you Library folder (in the Finder, choose "Go" > "Go To Folder" and enter "~/Library". Click your way through to Application Support/GarageSale/Auction Images. Do you see any files there?

Ilja

Hi,

I get this error message:

Error=BadAuthentication
Info=InvalidSecondFactor

In google/youtube I read that to grant access to the account to external
application a specific password need to be generated.
I also tried this but it didn't work either.

Thanks

"Seller should create an Username when connected in Youtube with the Google

Hi Kristian,

many thanks. This is exactly what I did. In fact this works already perfect with my existing Youtube account which is at least 4 years old. Last weekend I created a new one
only for the video I want to use on Ebay listing and applied the same procedure but it doesn't work. I assume that google/youtube changed something.

Hi Kristian,

I've checked every single one of the settings and don't see anything I could
possibly change, in eBay Australia or in GarageSale - unless you know of
something I might be missing?

As mentioned, I've already uploaded one auction through eBay and had no problems
at all. There were no 'Cross-Border' messages when I did this. I checked all of
the options available to me and there was nothing mentioned in there whatsoever.

I'm still waiting to hear back from eBay's third-party customer service and will
let you know what I learn. For now, I can't upload any of my auctions, which is
a real bummer. I don't want to remove international buyers from my listings as
this limits the exposure and sales my items receive.

If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it!

International site visibility is being eliminated by eBay in conjunction
with the new duplicate listing policy from what I have been told by my
account manager. I have been getting the same message for a while on
eBay.com as well when listing with GS.

Hi Tom,

Are you are getting the same "Error 21919034" message as I am in GarageSale
after already clicking on "Agree" on eBay's Cross-Border trading agreement, and
even after eBay has sent you a message confirming you have already agreed? Does
that mean you also cannot start any listings from GarageSale?

I am at my wits ends.

GarageSale have told me that this is an error from eBay. I've spoken to eBay
Customer service. They couldn't help me and told me the only way I could get
help was to email certifiedprovider@... as this was a third party issue.
Three days later, after me having to send 2 emails to them I finally got a reply
telling me that this is not a Certified Provider issue, but a Trust & Safety
issue so they have emailed Trust & Safety and are waiting for a response.

Unbelievable.

I've also put up a question in eBay's Answer Centre forum, but apart from
someone suggesting I clear my cache (which I did but it didn't help), no one has
been able to help me.

I have almost 70 listings already prepared in GarageSale and I cannot list them.

I feel helpless.

Anyone else had this problem?

Please help - I have several hundred templates that I've been keeping until ebay runs a free-listing promotion - today, I am able to view about 100 of them, but the rest have disappeared.  If I search for the title of one of the missing templates, it shows up in the search results, but when I click on the title, where I would normally see the template with picture, description, etc., I can't see anything - just an empty black square.  So they're there.... they're just not there - I appreciate any ideas you can give me!  Thanks, rara

I do not recall the exact error message. I do get one in GS for every
listing that says I am not autorized to use CBT, but I just click
"Ignore" and it moves on and applies the CBT setting fine.

It must be a different error message. I don't get the option of "Ignore", I only
get a message telling me that "The current operation has been cancelled".

I cannot list at all.

--> Hi trinketson,

did you already try to start an auction (using the same international shipping
options) through the eBay website directly? Maybe you get (another) message from
eBay if you do so. Just an idea.

I had this problem too. You have to delete the auction. Find the finished
auction (in GS) and delete it.

Hi Kristian,

Yes, I have already listed one auction through eBay directly with same shipping
options, perhaps you missed it in my earlier post...

I didn't receive any messages or errors from eBay, and I still cannot list
anything through GarageSale.

I'm very stuck! :(

Sadly, it seems that this is the only solution - to delete the auctions
entirely.

Unfortunately, this is not a good option for keeping business records as it will
affect the GS reports.

If GarageSale could repair this glitch in a future update it would make it a
much more reliable program to use for business.

How do I revise an auction in GS that was started with Turbo Lister Pro without
paying more fees? I know I can import the Auction from my EBay and modify it but
it realists as a new listing. New to GarageSale. Any help would be great.

Hi Graham,

should be possible if you 'link' your auction with the corresponding auction
template. You first have to import the auction and let GarageSale convert is to
an auction template. Use the "import from my eBay" command (File menu) for that:
http://www.iwascoding.com/mediawiki/index.php/File_Menu#Import_from_My_eBay

Linking Auctions with Auction Templates:

UPDATE: SUCCESS - I HAVE FOUND THE PROBLEM & SOLUTION!

After many, many hours of sleuthing I have finally resolved this issue so
thought I should post it here in case anyone has this problem in the future.

The problem was that I have two eBay accounts. I had only accepted the eBay
Cross-border trade agreement for one of the accounts - the one I had prepared
the listings for. However, my other account was set as the default account in
GS/Preferences/Accounts/Information.

If anyone has this problem, be sure to either:
1) Accept the Cross-border trade agreement for all of your eBay accounts
OR
2) Set the account you want to list your items from as the default account in
GarageSale before you hit "Verify Auction Template" or "Start Auction" (just be
sure that you have already accepted the Cross-border trade agreement for the
account)

In retrospect, this all sounds very simple, but it's one of those things that
can be easily missed and no one can seem to figure out what the problem is,
which happened in my case.

Hope this will help save someone the misery I have been through!

Best regards + happy listing :)

Subject: Reduce image size on import
trinketson...
Send Email Send Email

I have a few questions about the "Reduce image size on import" option which is
located in GS Preferences/Advanced/Advanced Image Server Settings/

I have searched the GarageSale Wiki Manual and see that the only information
located there states:"Reduce image size on import helps you to keep your
GarageSale library small."

I have my GS preferences set to Maximum image size 800x600, using GS's free
picture service.

My questions are:

1) When the "Reduce image size on import" box is checked does this reduce the
picture quality of all images in my auctions - I have noticed that my pictures
look low resolution in my GS listings even though they are high resolution
photographs and look amazing in iPhoto

2) If I don't check the "Reduce image size on import" box, will my GS library
become so big that it will be a problem - ie. slow down my computer, or slow the
functioning of GarageSale, etc? I am asking this because I still keep all of my
high res images in iPhoto, so is there any point in reducing image size on
import to GS?

3) If I uncheck the "Reduce image size on import" box in my preferences, will
this improve the quality of my images? If so, will it be applied to listings
already created (but not uploaded to eBay yet) or will I have to delete all the
images in the listings and then re-import them back into the listings?

4) Could you please explain in more detail when the "Reduce image size on
import" box should be used and all of it's pros and cons?

Thank you kindly.

--> Hi there,

as far as I can tell "reduce on import" reduces newly imported images (not
already imported images) to 1024x768px.
Pro: Smaller image size (if you use large images), smaller GarageSale database =
less loading time.
Neither improves it the image quality nor should it worsen the quality
drastically.

Hi Robyn,

Most likely your template hierarchy got out of synch with your template
database. Here is how to fix it:

1. Quit GarageSale
2. Open the Terminal utility
3. Enter the following line and press Return:

defaults write com.iwascoding.garagesale importLostDataBaseItems YES

4. Start GarageSale, there should be folder called "Lost & Found" containing
your missing templates
5. Quit GarageSale
6. Enter the following line and press Return:

defaults write com.iwascoding.garagesale importLostDataBaseItems YES

Hope this helps,
Ilja

templates, it shows up in the search results, but when I click on the title,
where I would normally see the template with picture, description, etc., I can't
see anything - just an empty black square. So they're there.... they're just
not there - I appreciate any ideas you can give me! Thanks, rara

Thank you for posting this 'reminder'. You're absolutely right - I've had
similar things occur, and they can drive you batty! Often, when you're enmeshed
in a 'battle' with your computer (& everyone's busy defending themselves and
asserting that it's not THEIR issue) it's the simplest things that are often
overlooked. :-)

Glad you got this worked out.

Thanks, Tony, that's exactly right. There's nothing worse than having to be your
own "techie" when you've got so much else to do trying to run a business, or
just day to day life for that matter. These types of things can put everything
to an abrupt, time-consuming and financially consequential stop.

I hope this post will help at least one other person not have to go through the
week of pain of I've been through!

:)

Subject: Re: Reduce image size on import
trinketson...
Send Email Send Email

Thanks for your prompt reply, Kristian. However, it does not answer all of my
questions and I am now left scratching my head with even more questions.

As mentioned in my initial post, I have my GS preferences set to "MAXIMUM IMAGE
SIZE 800x600" - how is it possible then that "reduce on import" reduces images
to 1024x768px? This doesn't make any sense.

The picture quality is definitely reduced significantly when photos are imported
into listing template when "reduce image size on import" is set. This is
especially noticeable in close-up photographs.

Obviously, I don't want to bog down my computer and make it sluggish, or to slow
down GarageSale program - but if that won't happen when my GS preferences are
NOT set to "reduce file size on import", I'd much prefer to keep my photographs
high resolution.

Perhaps someone else knows more about this?

Sorry to be a pain, but I am trying to run a viable business with GarageSale and
I need to ensure that I am running it most efficiently with few foreseeable
problems in the future!

I need to keep ALL of my auction templates once sales are completed and there
will be hundreds, eventually thousands of them.

In addition to the new question above, here are the previous questions I still
need clarification on:

1) If I don't check the "Reduce image size on import" box, will my GS library
become so big that it will be a problem - ie. slow down my computer, or slow the
functioning of GarageSale, etc? I am asking this because I still keep all of my
high res images in iPhoto, so is there any point in reducing image size on
import to GS? What happens when the GS library becomes large?

(I'm using a MacBook Pro 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor with 4GB memory)

2) Please explain in more detail when the "Reduce image size on import" box
should be used and all of it's pros and cons?

Thank you kindly :)

I've searched through the posts and also the GarageSale Wiki Manual but I can't
find the answer for this:

How do I add to an item description of a running auction with bids on it from
within GS? I was not able to do it so had to do it from within eBay.

Many thanks!

Today I wanted to do some batch updates by replacing text on many of my
templates.

After performing the search, I get a list of matching templates BUT when I
attempt to "Replace" at all the program just locks up and I must force quit and
restart.

Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.

does the text to be replaced contain any special characters?
Do you see any messages in the "Console" utility when GarageSale 'locks up'?

--> Hi robertweijerman,

I can't really help you with that script but why don't you use GarageSale's
batch edit function for that?

"Changing any control in GarageSale's inspector window now changes that value
(e.g. duration, starting price, shipping info) for all selected templates,
making batch changes to your auction templates a lot easier."
