Hmm, I did delete all images which were over 90 days old, as I thought that was
about the
amount of time in which eBay permitted auctions to be relisted. None of my
failed relists
were close to that old -- the auction with no bids was 4 to 6 weeks ago.
Nonetheless, col
deleting images over 90 days old be the source of my relisting problems.

Deleting the 'ImageInformations.data' appears to have had no effect.

Thanks for any advice.

Recently, my Mac had to go to the repair shop. All the files on the hard drive
had to be
erased. I have lots of backups over the years - hundreds of discs and a few
groups of
printouts just in case. I can't find my license code for Garage Sale. I have
contacted
Garage Sale support twice to try to get my license code - the original email
that I signed
up with is no longer active. They have not responded and I have no intention of
paying
another $30 just to get a code that I should have already received. Now, I know
that they
are busy and I also know that euros get priority at German companies, sad, but
true in
today's world. I have never had problems with U.S. customer service on U.S.
software.
Freeverse, one of the friendlist companies I know, has a page where you can type
in your
old email , your name and even a new email address and their system
automatically sends
your code right out immediately. They even sent me an update on disc when I was
having
trouble downloading it. Why doesn't Garage Sale add an automatic license
retrival feature
to their page? Do they keep records from several years ago or are they like a
U.S. software
company, Pinnacle, that would not send out information because they discontinued
support on products less than two years old. I like using Garage Sale - but I
will use
another product or go back to listing online at eBay before I will pay again to
get a code
that I have already paid for. Have you had problems with customer support. Any
constructive help would be appreciated.

There is another German PC software company with a great product, - Total
Commander -
several years ago when I was going to buy it, the company discriminated against
U.S.
buyers, making them order by mail and convert dollars to euros to an
international money
order. So I didn't buy. As for Garage Sale, I first started using the program
when it first
came available and at that time, it wasn't enough for me to move away from turbo
lister
( yes, that nasty PC only app.) I had to have that kind of power and the Mac
didn't have a
program that would get it done. Through the years, Garage Sale has greatly
improved and
may be the best available for the job, although their are still a few advanced
features I'd
like to see added or I just haven't found them if they are there already. I
briefly tested
iSale, but decided to stay with Garage Sale. I bought Marketblast years ago,
but have
never been able to get it to authorize on the Mac - well, back to the main
point. Thanks
for your time.

They do indeed have an automatic retrieval system - http://www.iwascoding.com/contact/ . It probably won't help you because you changed your email address.

I have found their support to be awesome and they don't discriminate against US customers.

I can't believe that you just typed 470 words trying to blame a software author because you had problems in the past with another foreign software company for an issue that is clearly your own fault (for not keeping your keys in a safe place).

If you are in that much of a hurry, take the preference file from one of your "lots of backups" and get the key.

Saying that they are discriminating against you because you are american is uncalled for.

Well said Lee.

As for the getting a copy of your code, it is quite simple. All you
have to do is make CONTACT with them direct via email or the links
provided on their site for this very issue instead of whining on a
forum. I had a similar issue where I had a hard drive crash and had
changed my email address since I had purchased this software. It took
ONE email to the Garage Sale team via the appropriate channels and I
had a copy of my license a couple of hours later.

I strongly believe that people just like to whinge and complain these
days. Why not try contacting them first and then if you get no
response you can post your gripe on the forum..........

That's why I stated in my first post that the Freeverse automatic retrieval
system will send you
the code to your new email address - all you have to do is type in the original
email address,
your name and your new email - that is excellent customer service.

Do you get that number from your word processor stats or did you count them the
old
fashioned way? I have had to reinstall everything and every other company
besides iwas
coding has responded quickly and in a friendly manner. No, I did not have the
option to
firewire everything over.

Duh, read my post - I have contacted them twice and it has been over a week and
no replies.
I contacted them from the contact page at their website.

Still whining? I think a 'thank you for your help' was all that was

And do you think your post Tamara helps anyone? Why are you wasting
everyone else's time and resources to have to read your post which
was of no help to anyone?

And for anyone else that wants to complain about another user, you
don't have the send your email to the entire list. Send the user a
private email and don't CC everyone else with your complaint. There
are other people here besides you and we appreciate this list. We
don't appreciate people resorting to name calling even if it is not
directed at us.

For the same reason you wasted your time writing your post. I don't
like to see people making baseless claims. Read through the other
couple of posts in regards to this issue and you may understand my
post. People are too quick to blame others for their own mistakes.
Especially when this only required a quick search on the Garagesale
website to find the relevant information or too politely ask the
question in this forum. I don't post often, but when I see posts such
as the one from koinonia379, I felt it required a response. I will be
letting this topic drop now as I have said what I felt was necessary.

We obviously do not think in the same manner - oh, I see from your last name
that you like
to "Bicker." Yes, another bad joke that you have probably heard or read before.
And asking a
company to live up to its customer service responsibilities is not whining.

You shouldn't assume that that is my last name.

Manners I believe is the key to achieving what you want.

I am glad that you were able to retrieve your password and was simply
pointing out to you that there is no need to lay blame when all you
had to do was follow the correct procedures, which were quickly shown
to you by the first response to your post.

My attitude is the result of no response to a contact that was made in a very
friendly and
straightforward manner - you are assuming that I was argumentative or
complaining in my
contact to them, which I was not. But since you jumped to conclusions and
flamed me before
you read all of my post, I will know that any additional communication with you
is useless. If
you would not have helped me as a customer service rep, then you either would
not be
working at that job for very long or you have forgotten the old adage that the
customer is
always right - even if they are a little miffed or angry because of poor
customer service.
Since you have addresses my whining and my attitude, you give me the impression
that you
are an elementary school teacher. But, I could be wrong.

My claim is not baseless and I see that this forum appears to be a lovefest for
GS which is not
a perfect program, not is their customer service. I'd like to know if anyone
has been able to
start a multiple item auction from GS that will allow multiple bidders to bid on
multiple items
such as to list an auction of 50 items on which the bidders can specify quantity
desired and
compete for those items in the bidding process. eBay will allow you to set this
up online and
I assume turbo lister will do it (but it may not) - this complex type of auction
is not serviced
from any Mac software that I know of besides, perhaps, Marketblast.

Not getting a response within a week's time is not being in a hurry. This is
just slow or no
response from the support.

com.iwascoding.garagesale.plist
was the only file found that resembles a preferences for the program - this is
found in
system/library/preferences and in user/library/preferences

this had no entry where the term license code was found although there were some
encoded
entries in the file. Perhaps, if you can be more specific as to the location
and the name of the
file where the license code can be found we can change this from a non-helpful
remark to a
working answer to the problem. How many digits in the code and is it grouped
with dashes,
etc. Not fishing for a free code, just trying to recognize what it looks like.
Thanks.

Try to replace that file with the old version from your backup.
If it is the one with the serial number then all should work.

Your license code is stored in your ~/Library/Preferences/
com.iwascoding.garagesale.plist file. If you have the Apple developer
tools installed you can just click on the plist file to see the
contents (you can download them for free from Apple's web site). You
need the "Property List Editor.app" to properly view this file, but
you can then easily find the "LicenseCode" entry in it.

Take your old backup of this file and place it in the same location
on your computer and your GS app should work.

Several of us have received this message when listing via eBay motors.
This error keeps Scheduler from activating, which renders the
Scheduler function worthless. I list on eBay Motors exclusively.

I have received that message when listing manually. I generally get
the message that "listing was successful, with the following errors".
The listings will upload successfully when done manually.

We'd love to find a fix for this error, as Scheduler is non-functional
for us eBay Motors types...

Thanks,

Brandon

I was able to list and start the auction manually. I -did- receive the
error, but it didn't stop the listing from activating. The Scheduler
function seems to be the only thing stopped cold by the error.

Hi,

could you be so kind and send me your real name and/or the email address you send the support request from (maybe off-list). I could not find you or your support request under this email address.

Recently, my Mac had to go to the repair shop.  All the files on the hard drive had to be
erased.  I have lots of backups over the years - hundreds of discs and a few groups of
printouts just in case.  I can't find my license code for Garage Sale. I have contacted
Garage Sale support twice to try to get my license code - the original email that I signed
up with is no longer active.  They have not responded and I have no intention of paying
another $30 just to get a code that I should have already received.  Now, I know that they
are busy and I also know that euros get priority at German companies, sad, but true in
today's world.  I have never had problems with U.S. customer service on U.S. software.
Freeverse, one of the friendlist companies I know, has a page where you can type in your
old email , your name and even a new email address and their system automatically sends
your code right out immediately. They even sent me an update on disc when I was having
trouble downloading it.   Why doesn't Garage Sale add an automatic license retrival feature
to their page?  Do they keep records from several years ago or are they like a U.S. software
company, Pinnacle, that would not send out information because they discontinued
support on products less than two years old.  I like using Garage Sale - but I will use
another product or go back to listing online at eBay before I will pay again to get a code
that I have already paid for. Have you had problems with customer support. Any
constructive help would be appreciated.

There is another German PC software company with a great product, - Total Commander -
several years ago when I was going to buy it,  the company discriminated against U.S.
buyers, making them order by mail and convert dollars to euros to an international money
order.  So I didn't buy.  As for Garage Sale,  I first started using the program when it first
came available and at that time, it wasn't enough for me to move away from turbo lister
( yes, that nasty PC only app.)  I had to have that kind of power and the Mac didn't have a
program that would get it done.  Through the years, Garage Sale has greatly improved and
may be the best available for the job, although their are still a few advanced features I'd
like to see added or I just haven't found them if they are there already.  I briefly tested
iSale, but decided to stay with Garage Sale.  I bought Marketblast years ago, but have
never been able to get it to authorize on the Mac - well, back to the main point.   Thanks
for your time.

Apologies for not getting back sooner; I don't list that often.

I entered my shipping options in reverse order ie: Collection in Person (No Fee)
first, and
then my chargeable postal shipping option second, and this worked perfectly :-)

It seems a little odd to me, but as long as it works, I'm happy.

Yes, I've just contributed to another thread.

In my case, I use two shipping options - 1st Class Post and Collection in Person
(free). If I
submit my listing with shipping in that order, my listing shows as 'free
shipping' and the free
shipping box is checked in eBay when I revise. If I reverse the order, by
showing the
Collection in Person option first, all is well, and my '1st Class Post' shows up
correctly.

My postage is very little on an item I sell regularly, so I'm happy to submit a
listing 'the wrong
way' and absorb the cost if it helps the GS team to have something to look at.
The problem is
a minor inconvenience for me, really.

Hi! Is there some way to fill in item details in GS for listings going into
categories like art,
silver, photos, books, etc where you select age, material, type, size and so on?
I have been
going back and adding the details with eBay's Revise link for the listing, but
that is slow and
laborious.
If there is not a feature for that, does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks,

cornwallbridge

in Template mode just click on that little magnifying glass next to "Attribute
Sets" and
make your settings there.

Hope this helps,

Dear GarageSale Users,

GarageSale 3.3 Beta 1 is available for you to download from this URL:

<http://www.iwascoding.de/downloads/GarageSale_3.3b1.dmg>

GarageSale 3.3 will be a free update to all current users.

What's new in GarageSale 3.3 (Beta 1):

- supports combined shipping discounts
- works with multiple eBay stores
- improved Acounts section in preferences panel
- improved 'Start Auction' panel
- can provide buyer shipping addresses to Endicia's Mac client
- employs new officialy eBay-supported interface for uploading images to EPS
- supports eBay's 'Giving Works' charity auctions
- reuses existing FTP connection when FTP is used to upload images to users's
web server
- adds compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
- adds QuickLook plugin for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
- introduces own XML format for importing listings from other sources

System Requirements:

- Mac OS X 10.4 or later

What version of GarageSale should I use:

If you been don't mind running into some smaller issues with this beta release
and report
those to us, we'd like to
encourage you to use the beta version. If you have been requesting any of the
newly added
features in the past, you should try this version to make sure the feature is
implemented
in a way that makes sense to you.

If you'd like to stay on safer side of the fence please use GarageSale 3.2.

Switching back to GarageSale 3.2.x

GarageSale 3.3 will back up your existing auction library if you run it for the
first time,
before it starts converting it to the new format. If you like to switch back to
GarageSale
3.2.x, rename the folder 'SavedAuctions.v13 backup' in your home directory under
'Library/Application Support/GarageSale' to 'SavedAuctions'. Be aware that by
replacing the
existing SavedAuctions folder, you will loose any template changes you made
since you
started using GarageSale 3.3. Export those templates you'd like to keep using
with
GarageSale 3.2.x by using the 'Export' command from the 'File' menu to import
them back
into GarageSale 3.2.

Thanks for using GarageSale,
Ilja on behalf of the whole GS team

Ilja:

Would you please clarify what this is? If it is what I *think* it is, it
will be (for me, anyway) the most useful new feature in GS. I've hesitated
moving to 3.2 for fear of jeopardizing the stability of my auctions, but
this could make me jump to 3.3 when it's released.
