Just to be clear, you connected the piezo between the emitter pin of component
VT1 (in the schemathics) and ground? Grazie!

These are the clear or semi clear individual storage cases that VCR size tapes fit into for protection. They also make goo boxes for electronic projects. Once available cheap everywhere, now can't find them. Need 2 or 3 dozen for school Geiger projects.

Hi Arthur,
This would be about right if we were trying to run lamps at half brightness fron their rated voltage, but we are trying to run full brightness from twice the supply voltage so 50% is correct. A small adjustmaent would be a good idea to tweak the voltage.

Robert G8RPI.

Thank you for the information. I did not yet dismount the two PCBs, but as soon as i do it, i will try your solution for the piezo speaker (sound simpler than mine). I used an op-amp as a comparator reading the signal from pin 4 (counting clockwise) of the rear connector.

Hi Geo,
The advantage of the PWM circuit is reduced power consumption. Your circuit will
work but will dissipate as much power again as the lamps. The PWM just has
switching losses. One oscillator will drive all the MOSFETs. If you could
easilly isolate the ground return then you could put a single MOSFET in the
ground circuit.

The circuit is here:

If there is an electric brake...........forget it. Too dangerous it might fail.

To give the correct answer , we should need the electrical wireing.  The simplest seems to be the parallel to series conversion . Limit are : you need a pair number of lamp in each circuit
You have to connect always to a 24vdc the trailer.
The total powe seems to be around 200w
2 stop light = 2x55
2x position light = 2x25
4x perimetral light= 4x5

The cheaper seems to be the parallel to series conversion . Remember that each lamp is usually ground referred so may be is not so easy to make tehem in series

Uhh, guys (and gals that may be out there) why not just wire a duplicate set of bulbs in series with the existing bulbs? Doesn't have to be mounted on the trailer, just in a box with the 24v leads coming in one side thru the bulbs and out to the 12 v trailer. Two 12V bulbs in series should equal 24V, right?

Hi,
A voltage converter won't work well as you need one for each line to the trailer, Side lights, brake lights, numberplate light etc.
Zeners will work but you need big ones. Simple math zenner voltage = 14V, zenner power = total lamp wattage on that line. Here in the UK brake lights are 21W each so you would need a 45W or 50W zenner for just that line. This would not be practical unless you can find some surplus high power diodes. It would be easier to use a dropping resistor. The wattage rating of the
resistor has to equal the total of the bulbs in the circuit. The resistance is
roughly equal to the resistance of the filaments in the circuit or 144/total
watts (E^2/W). Just a thought.

Hi,
A voltage converter won't work well as you need one for each line to the
trailer, Side lights, brake lights, numberplate light etc.
Zeners will work but you need big ones. Simple math zenner voltage = 14V, zenner
power = total lamp wattage on that line. Here in the UK brake lights are 21W
each so you would need a 45W or 50W zenner for just that line. This would not be
practical unless you can find some surplus high power diodes. Easiest solution
is to change the bulbs to 24V ones!
If you have electronic abilities you could put a cheap MOSFET (e.g IRF510) in
each line with all the gates being driven by a 50% duty cycle squarewave. This
will give half the power out and will work fine with filament lamps. No need for
big heatsinks either. You could buld this into an adaptor lead.

I am not sure how many amps, the lighting on a trailer, stop, turn, running lights. How would I wire a stepdown converter into the signaling circuit that's 24v on the truck and 12 volt to the trailer lights. See I want to leave the 24volt plug there and put a 12 volt plug next to it so depending on which trailer I wanted you can just plug in.

Nuclear Data Model SIX. Everything I know how to check works fine. So far I have not figured out how to turn on the HV, but feeding a pulse to the SIG IN jack registers a count on the CRT screen which is bright and clear.

Made in 1986, it has seen little use. Insides look new, it works from 15 small flashlight batteries or external BATT jack.

No manual

$350 + shipping ( or trade for??)
