OK, tried that with the 700. On the x100 range with the source touching the probe window grille, it eventually stabilizes at 7.5 mr/hr closed and 9 mr/hr open....

Did you check both sides of the disc with the 700? One side has thicker epoxy than the other and blocks more of the beta. These are what I get with Cs-137...
