Your help is greatly appreciated here, Phil. I've gone so far off
task here that my Chief is upset with me. But who else will go the
distance, I ask.

I've no access to purchase funds, as much as I'd like, to get to the
bottom of this dilemma, but as you can imagine, I'm stuck.

All I'm after here is to find out why Moto's XTS's won't P25 Emerg
through a Harris System like the Harris SU's do so well.

Moto is still characteristically silent.

I'm a very curious bugger and having once been an employee of the big
M, their guard went up a while ago.

No good ideas on CAI sources except for the way we get the IDs. The
toys you mention are certainly good, but we tend go the 'off the
shelf so we can sell this approach' methods J. You MIGHT see if
Etherstack has something low end that can help.

Just a thought.

Etherstack? Thanks for the pointer. I'm onto it. Yeah, I'm so far off the task my boss is having conniptions. But who else is there to push this, eh? I enjoy getting my teeth into a really good challenge from time to time.
Moto dropped the ball a while back and hasn't been heard from since.
So, here I go into the abyss......

Wow! Phil, you're the very first with an intelligent response on this. I've suspected something of that nature but haven't a means to see that data stream to compare or analyse. Have you a suggestion as to how I may go about getting that kind of CIA data? I'll need to extract it from the two SU's. I have an R2670 and and IFR, both P25, at my disposal as well as an HP Protocol analyzer. I don't know what I'd be looking for, though nor how to marry the two.

No, sorry no GenWatch available. I'm used to doing things the hard way, anyway. Welcome to my world. Next?

And thanks for spreading the query around. More heads are better than one.

Still silence from Moto.

Good question Patrick. I DO know there is a unique thing about emergency in P25, in general. There are a couple of different Emergency P25 bits, one of which is unique to the way Motorola has extended the P25 protocol (all mfg have the right to do this). It would be interesting to look at the CAI for the Harris units when they do their emergency and compare it to the Motorola units.

Does this system have our GenWatch3 for 9600 on it? If so, this is easy. If not… pretty hard.

I’ve CC’d some of our resident experts on the subject.

'm getting somewhat exasperated with this issue. I'm looking for some P25 assistance.
Specifically, I was asked to provide a few of our XTS5k's to a potential new System Provider for their testing.
Once they provided the trick that Moto has not yet found, the units now Trunk in P25 just fine. Private Call, Alert (Page) and all that across Mfg products.
However one particular feature remains inoperative. Emergency.
I have failed to get the XTS5k to activate the Console Emerg feature without having to press the PTT. The Mfg's Subscriber Units work just fine. Not the XTS.

Does anyone out there have an idea that might help?

The details are:
Harris SitePro P25 Controller
Mastr III Stations
Moto XTS5k properly optioned for 9600 P25 and all that

We have some great news to pass along, and we hope that you will pass it on to other groups and individuals...

  1. The NEW GenWatch3 Commander home is-- www.GenesisWorld.com/GW3/cmdr/ This has tons of information that you'll find helpful for Rebanding planning and replacement of SIMSII & SIP terminals.
  2. The BIG news is that GenWatch3 Commander is no longer just for Rebanding replacement of SIMSII & SIP terminals. If there is ANY situation where GW3 Commander fits, whether it's replacing an old SIMSII, SIP, SiteLens, etc. or if it is a new need, it can be sold through Motorola! Just contact your Motorola Sales Rep. As we say on the GW3 Commander page...

In their day, SIMSII and SIP machines were pretty clever! They could turn radios on and off, regroup radios, show you what is going on inside the bowels of your system, and do it all remotely. Pretty nifty. Many of you still have them running...with tape, bubblegum and string holding them together. While they have served you well, the operating systems and the hardware are no longer supportable.    -- Enter GenWatch3™ Commander.

Take a minute and check out the new GenWatch3 Commander Home!

Phil

Kelley,

That would be correct, the only way to tell would be to watch the
patch in the channel display on NetVista when the field units do a PTT.
If units are on both tg's then the tg's would be identified when they
did a PTT. The console would only show the one it was selected on.

I don't use the capability that often unless a patch is left in by
accident on one of the assigned interoperabilty tg's and I need to
figure out where it's coming from.

Our first question on the user's group is coming from Genesis... we
had a question come up today regarding talkgroup patches and we need
your insight...

Do any of you use GenSZAI to determine what talkgroups were patched in
a talkgroup patch? It appears that the ATIA stream simply sends a
packet to say that it has occured, but not which talkgroups were
patched.

Thank you in advance for bestowing your wisdom upon us :-)

First, thanks so much for joinging GenUG!! As the membership grows, I'm sure we'll have more items of interst and good discussions. Our purpose at Genesis will be to assist as necessary, but this is YOUR forum and user's group.

As usual, we will be closing the Genesis offices during Christmas to give our employees some much needed time with their families. We'll close at noon on Dec. 22 and reopen January 2, 2007 at 8:00AM (central time). IF YOU NEED ANYONE- We WILL all answer our cell phones as needed. You can also leave a voice mail at our main phone number (1.903.561.6673) and you can send a general email to MoreInfo@... that will get read at least two times each day.

Have a great Holiday!

Phil Burks
