/The Judge of Lleida has acquitted Albert Ferré, who was being
demanded
around 500.000 euros in penalty payment for the destruction, on July
2004, of a GM wheat trial camp located in Gimenells (Lleida,
Catalonia),
which belonged to the IRTA, a public entity linked to the Catalan
Government. The sentence recognises the lack of proof of the
prosecution
and also Albert's right to presumption of innocence. /

/The trial took place on the 19^th of October, parallel to several
activities and also support and solidarity mobilisations, with the
participation of Catalan and Spanish organisations, as well as
various
anti-GMOs organisations from France and other European countries.

was the first trial in the Spanish State against an anti-GMOs

with the purpose, not achieved, of criminalising and repressing the
growing Catalan movement against GMOs. /
