Visited on 12/5/09 after picking up the rental car. Been coming to San Diego
for over 10 years to visit family, but have never visited this island. Pulled
over at a convenient spot, climbed over the small dune and found a wide sandy
path at the edge of a large field of dried brush. We stayed on the path until
we were about 70 m from the flag. Looked like we probably could have walked
right to ground zero, but we had to keep moving. It was fairly calm on the
water around the island, and we saw no kiteboarders and only a few kayakers.
