Rumors of someone from the past returning have started to spread. A hero
among the Syreen. Roger Stevenson. A bald eagle syreen born in the late
1800's he joined the then still active United Syreen Army and quickly
rose in its ranks. At some point he became the subject of a project to
turn him into a replacement for the Syreens gods gifted warrior who died
in a battle thousands of years ago. The war with the Goblins was raging
and they needed a boost to morale and their power. He was granted
draconian and fae powers, as those are the gods of the Syreen culture,
and had a shield and sword grafted into his body. Ancient indestructible
weapons from some (Seemingly) forgotten warrior.
By this time the Syreen only had one real settlement of any substantial
size left. The one surrounding the royal castle. Sometime in 1901 a
massive army of goblins lead by a fearsome warlord started to attack the
settlement. The war raged on for months as both sides were still able to
get supplies to themselves. Both sides took heavy casualties but the
Goblins begun to press further.
In a last ditch effort Roger took his most elite fighters and made his
way to the goblin warlords encampment. Somehow able to convince the
royal family to exhaust all magical resources for this one mission. Only
four of the 100 syreen fighters in Rogers team survived to tell the tale
of the brutal slaughter of goblins. For every one syreen slain, ten
goblins fell. Only one fighter was close enough to Roger and the warlord
to see the fight. As he stated the two fought for what seemed like
hours, hacking and slashing at each other savagely until both were
barely able to stand. Then the warlord pulled out some sort of glowing
hourglass and laughed.
That was all the time Roger needed to decapitate the warlord and try and
grab the magical weapon. But something happened and the hourglass fell
to the ground shattering. The fighter saw Roger dive onto the shattered
glowing device with his shield before taking off for cover and the
massive flash of light lit up the night sky.
All that was left was hundreds if not thousands of goblins bodies
littered around the blast. Some turned to dust while others seemed to
have deaged even as corpses.
Roger was not seen again until Thursday when he appeared in the inn and
was sent to the Pulse for extensive healing.
After the battle the Syreen royal family scattered the village
surrounding the castle to protect the people. But they have made Rogers
story known publically as a testament to his bravery and to give their
warriors something to live up to.
Anyone that knows of Syreen history has the ability to know this story.
