Don't panic if you can't immediately reconnect, it'll take a few minutes for the DNS information to spread through the internet. Ahh, the glory of Trillian Astra, when it goes live, all your lists are no longer stored on your computer... The latest build seems to be going smoothly as well...
If in a pinch, you can always use Meebo (meebo.com) as a web-based messenger, that hosts your messenger contacts and accounts when you're on the go. Astra will support such a feature, but they've had it disabled for a while now, just to get the client side working right.

Looks like I might be out of a computer for a little while. It shut
down on me suddenly today and every time I try to turn it back on it
starts up then suddenly shuts off. I think the fan on my liquid cooler
locked up, I found one of the same size but it has a different
connector. If I can get it to boot I'll be around, otherwise I won't
be. I hope its just an overheating issue and shutting down to prevent
damage.

I realized that most of my syreen girls would not be as, well colorful as they are due to most female birds are rather drab. So I added a change to the race stating that syreen females have the same coloration as the males. This developed due to most humaniod races like their women folk pretty instead of drab. And since they had other ways of protecting themselves they lost the drab colorzation needed to hide normal female birds.

The odd building on the edge of town is taking more shape, but its an odd shape, curves and towers and curlicue bits seem to be covering it. It's near impossible to find a straight side. No one is ever seen building it, new additions just appear randomly.

If Thad bob and I all vanish from the net its because a disconnected notice for our phone/net service got stuck in the pages of a junk mail paper that I always just trash. I had to go digging to find it in fact. But our phone has been and soon the net will be disconnected till we can get 300 to pay it off. We don't know when this will be. Bob's next paycheck will be small and mostly go towards rent. Plus We're already slightly in the negative due to something pulling money out that I forgot about. And Thad doesn't think his will be large enough to cover it and gas for work and the last weekend of Whitehart. So it may not be till Bob's paycheck after the next.

My cell will still work if I am really needed after I vanish. 14174400248 Though If I don't pick up assume I just didn't hear the ring.

July is just starting out really lousy right now.

so..since most of you should know..I lost my entire hard drive on saterday. I have found some backups ....from 2005. If I have any more recent I haven't found em yet. I've also managed to recover some files, but I don't think IRC logs are among them.

The phone number at the tail end of there is from a company called Great Atlantic Warranty. They are phone scammers, claiming that your car warranty (no matter if they believe you have a car or not) is near to, or out of, expiration. There are a couple phone numbers that are attached to this company, including a pair of 800 numbers that don't cost you a dime to call, but can cost them per call.

If you're like Shane right now, and on Dial-up, there are some free programs that you can use to force-dial these numbers, hang up, and dial again (and wash, rinse, repeat, every few seconds).

If you get this call, a recorded message will tell you that your car warranty is about to expire, and that you can press 1 to talk to a representative. If you do, use this script: http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html Find out as much information as possible from them, and DO NOT give them any of your info. Period.
The only other option the voice tells you is to press 9 to be removed from the call list. It does not work, so don't bother.

The inn's page will soon be a full fledged addon domain of my personal sight on lunarpages. In seven days the gildedroseinn.com addy will point to it's new home on lunar.

For now it's located at http://gildedroseinn.softpaw.org/ which as said will change back to http://www.gildedroseinn.com in a week once the domain name transfer is done.

The wiki is at http://gildedroseinn.softpaw.org/wiki/ so you can get to reupdateing the lost stuff. You'll need to re-create your usernames just as they were (yes, even Case Sensitive names). If you cant remember what cases you used just check the pages you made it should have it on them.

We have the info posted before 2/26/2007 but nothing after, so pretty much anything you posted last year needs to be redone.

You all remember the Wiki, and how it's been down for a few months now? Well, I can give the simple answer, and I can give the technical answer.

Simple:
Fuitadnet got bought out by another company, and during the change of hands, they lost the database that kept all our entries, links, profiles, and everything. Any data that you might have put up after February 2007 is lost. I'm sorry.

Technical:
Fuitadnet, again, got bought out by another company, and that company demanded a restructuring of their server schema. During the change, they left many, many users' SQL databases behind. Apparently, the backend database was completely lost, and they have no backups (reportedly) of the time prior to the takeover. Their tools are completely fubar, broken, and ill-suited to do any web-management, let alone SQL management.

Now, I bet by now, you all are wondering what we're going to do! I've got a backup of the database from back in February of last year (2007) that will need to act as our new starting point. Hey, it's a lot better than starting from scratch, right?

When we transfer the website to its new home with LunarPages, I'm going to put this backup up there as our new starting point. I hope everyone will be okay with this, as it's the only solution we have.
