Folder * Yahoo! Feedback! Forms! *
Changes to the Y!GROUPS HELP SYSTEM in late 2008 rendered MOST OF THESE LINKS OBSOLETE! -- USE GROUPS HELP PAGES AND WEB FORMS! -- ONLY USE EMAIL WHEN REPLYING TO A REPLY FROM YAHOO, do NOT begin/start the reporting process using email!! -- When asking questions and reporting problems use the LINK to HELP on the GROUP PAGE that best fits the area of your problem. Be sure to REPLY TO ANY REPLY from Yahoo Customer Care, quoting (in-line, not attached!) the previous messages, then restate and repeat your problem as clearly, concisely and completely as possible UNTIL you finally get a reply that makes sense and is obviously not a "canned" response. BE SUCCINCT and CLEAR in your reports! Be sure to include URLs for your group and category. SKIP the drama and stick to the facts! THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO CONTACT YAHOO!

Folder GMF - Resource Links Collection

Folder GMF Member's Managed Groups
Links in this Folder are to groups managed by GMF members. GMF Members this is where you list a group you manage. PLEASE NOTE the following criteria: You may LIST ONLY ONE GROUP! We suggest your choose ONE GROUP that best exemplifies your group management philosophy and list ONLY THAT ONE GROUP. Make sure the LINK points TO your GROUP'S HOME PAGE using the most simple URL possible! Do *NOT* LIST an ADULT group. If you post more than one link in this folder, extra links will be deleted without comment, consultation or warning. All links should point to Yahoo! Groups (NOT external sites or join group page), any other links will be deleted without comment.

Folder YG Suggestion Board

Folder Yahoo! Groups Helpful Groups and Examples
Helpful Yahoo! Groups. Also groups with exceptional Home Pages examples. NOTE: These Group pages MUST be fully viewable WITHOUT joining or logging into Yahoo! (IOW, the designs/code must NOT require membership in the group!) An example Group Home page may NOT contain adult material or exist behind Yahoo's Adult-content firewall.

What is Error 999? (By former Y! Engineer Ernie H.)
"If you're on refreshing Yahoo! pages a lot - a LOT - I'm talking hundreds of pages per hour - the Yahoo! servers will start getting concerned that you're trying to a Denial-of-Service attack, meaning that you're purposely taking up bandwidth so that other Yahoo! users can't use the site. When that happens, you get an Error 999 and you'll not be able to access the site for an hour or so. After time passes, you're able to access Yahoo! in your usual way."

* How do I reactivate "bouncing" members?
Automatic and manual re-activation for members of Yahoo Groups. "Yahoo! Groups uses an automated system to test and reactivate email accounts that bounce. Also, [owners/moderators may] make a "Reactivation Request" to unbounce their account or an account in a group that they moderate." Send your members this link when they ask for help! NOTE: It's easier to let the user do this from the My Groups page!

Put GMF's RSS feed on your "My Yahoo" page!
To add GroupManagersForum to your "My Yahoo page". You can use the same url for any group you want to follow, just replace the group name (GroupManagersForum) with the name of the group you want. The Group must have public archives and not be behind Yahoo's Adult Content firewall. In the next page, you will need to confirm your choice by clicking "Add It".

Visit the GMF Polls Page! (Thanks, MisterE!)
Yes, you CAN do Polls in Groups that allow email/IP address hiding! Just create a URL that goes directly to the Group Polls web page (see above!). One caveat: If your poll reveals who votes, it WILL SHOW their email address! Use responsibly! NOTE: Y!Groups ties a user number to an email address; thus you can 'hide' email, but you can't hide it when a server converts the number to the email. That's what happens on a Group Polls Page - the server can show the email address and that's why the polls option is 'OFF' in such groups. [THIS NO LONGER WORKS.]
