a rumor that at one time you could change the

:: can anyone tell me where to get pictures for
my club page? one<br>:: trick, i have webtv and
can't download - is it possible?<br><br>Hmmm... I
thought you could download and save images with WebTV? Is
there a WebTV without a hard drive? The one my friend
had did great video captures off his camcorder.
<br><br>But... if you can't... try this... BORROW them. If you
check out the logo for the Antispam club's home page,
you'll see that the image's link is
<a href=http://www.spamfree.org/help.gif
target=new>http://www.spamfree.org/help.gif</a> (I think?). That image is
fetched from
Spamfree.Org's site each time someone visits the club's home
page. In other words, I borrow that images link. First
I noted the URL for that image and then copied and
pasted it into the field in "Edit Settings" for the
club's picture/logo. I'm not sure if you have copy and
paste functions on WebTV, but you should be able to
find the image's URL, manually right it down (UPPER or
lower CASE is IMPORTANT sometimes) and then manually
enter the image's URL into the field for your club's
settings. Yahoo's code for the clubs will automagically
size the image to fit the space, so try to find an
image that's close to the size you want. Also, find an
image nobody will mind you using and on a semi-reliable
server. <br><br>:: second, how do you make those nifty
signature links? could someone<br>:: please explain it or
tell me where to find the instructions?<br><br>Those
links are URLs... web addresses. Yahoo Clubs
automagically turns anything between an<br>"<a href=http://
target=new>http://</a>" and a " "
(space) into a link. So... you type or paste the URL for
your club after your name to create a
"signature."<br><br>The URL for this club is
<a href=http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/clubfoundersforum
target=new>http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/clubfoundersforum</a> .<br> (NOTE
there's a SPACE between the URL and
the PERIOD in that sentence. If you don't end a URL
with a manual carraige return (ENTER) or a SPACE " "
Yahoo may add the PERIOD or whatever follows to the URL
and it may or may not work as a link.<br><br>Does
that help?<br><br>Good
luck!<br><br>Mark<br><a href=http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/antispam

i like this club already lol. i dont know about
the 'other club' but if that is what happens when a
club is featured, i want mine to NEVER be a featured
club. i rather have low membership and not a whole lot
participation then all that mumbo jumbo over there. i have 3
clubs that i'm co/founder of as of now and 1 of the 3
is doing very good. we have new members there almost
everyday. i dont put a url up cuz that is pointless and a
pure waste of time for most of us. oh and some of the
people over there that say 'come visit my club or die' i
think somebody said i was like um ok lol. well anyways
have a good day everybody. well, gotta go,

about my clubs, just email me at

i am, just check my profile out lol it is pretty
informative so to say :o)

I have clubs in Yahoo, Excite, and Deja News.
I<br>prefer Yahoo clubs, but wish they had some of the
features that the other clubs do. Deja News lets<br>you
search for posts and also search newsgroups.<br>BTW,
newsgroups are great for posting info on your site. Be sure
that the newsgroup matches<br>your club's topic. If
possible post something<br>of interest and add a signature
with your club info. Excite lets you personalize your
club with HTML and post various topic and even upload
files<br>that others can download. How can we get more cool
features for Yahoo clubs? I love my Yahoo<br>clubs, but
the added features are sorely missing!

<br><br>I'd say it's more than a little work. I have two

Because I think they're important enough to warrant the

This, I think, is quite helpful and I imagine Yahoo!
hopes we do this so they can get more eyeballs on the

:: Are you going to delete members that do
ads?<br><br>No... deleting members is a bit extreme. But I will
delete the posts. If the members become obnoxious,
abusive or disruptive, I will delete them. But I have
never deleted ANY members in ANY club I founded for
abuse or inapproriate postings. I have removed content
from time-to-time, but always without comment unless
someone brings it up after-the-fact. Only once did I even
post a comment and that was required because the
members involved just did NOT realize their posts were
getting carried away (they didn't know I was deleting
them!). <br><br>One thing to remember with abusive
members... many, many times (always?) they do it because
they thrive on the attention it brings. Completely and
utterly ignoring them is your club's best weapon against
their abuse. That was true on BBSs in 1992 and it's
still true on the internet today. Human nature doesn't
vary due to the medium.<br><br>A rule of thumb to
follow... if your SIG is longer than your post or greater
than 4 lines... you have a problem. If your SIG
contains more content than your post, you have a problem.
There are currently two messages in this club that are
close to the edge of that rule of thumb (the one I'm
replying to now and (I think) post number 4). I haven't
deleted them... the club is young and they make fine,
though not definitive, examples of where to draw the
line. <br><br>All things considered, your post asked a
reasonable question. At a later date in this club's
development, post number 4 (I think that's it) would be
summarily deleted without comment.<br><br>Does this make

Hi folks!<br><br>I just posted this at the other,
"so-called" founders club. This is no doubt a commonly asked
question, so I'm re-posting it here. My apologies if you
already read it.<br><br>*****<br><br>:: Anybody got any
suggestions on increasing club participation? <br><br>Here's
a few general ideas:<br><br>1) First of all...
define your club's topic clearly and select an easy to
type and remember name as that becomes your club's
link.<br><br>2) Keep your club focused on its topic.<br><br>3)
Customize ALL areas of your club.<br><br>4) Search profiles
for the names of people interested in your club's
topic. (See #1... if you didn't originally define your
club clearly this will be VERY hard to do!)<br><br>5)
Use a link to your club as part of your "signature"
when posting in public forums or email (see below).
Make sure you post somthing topical though! Posts
saying "Hi... blah, blah, blah... followed by just a
long a plug for you club's is NOT good idea! Note this
post... it's CONTENT WITH SIG, not just SIG. Another
example: I use a link in my email sig to my City of Beloit
club, but ONLY because I send email to a lot of other
Beloiter's!<br><br>5) If, like on our hometown club, you have contacts
with other web site that share your club's topic, you
can ask them to place a link on their pages to your
club. (Example: I know the local newspaper's webmaster
and he gave our hometown club a VERY nice
placement!)<br><br>6) Judisciously use the "mail club members" feature
to enhance and remind members of the club. Let them
know about changes and additions to the club's
content. Let them know of special 'net events related to
the club's interest. Just make sure you don't abuse
it. You can also use it to cull "dead" members who no
longer have valid email addresses.<br><br>I think that's
enough for now...<br><br>Good
day.<br><br>Mark<br><a href=http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/antispam

applied to Yahoo itself though. Go read all about... In
this club's NEWS area go and click the NewsClipper
link for "Yahoo! News". As of last night, that story
appeared near the top of the search.<br><br>(BTW...
customizing club content is a key way to make your club
worthwhile to MEMBERS. I know it might be a pain and seem
useless to some clubs, BUT you CAN customize NEWS to at
least somewhat match your club's theme. (This goes for
Photos, too.))<br><br>Another thing is: DO NOT UPLOAD THE
IMAGES or store them on YAHOO! Clubs! Use a LINK to the
image instead of the default UPLOAD option! If the
images do NOT exist on Yahoo's servers they have a much
weaker claim to the use of those images.
(IANAL!)<br><br>More generally, if you have been paid or are expecting
to be paid for articles or images you create, you
shouldn't be posting them on the 'net in the first place.
At least not until AFTER they've been published and
you've been paid. And you may not be able to then, as
many publishers own exclusive right to the content
they've purchased from you for some pre-determined length
of time. This is just good common sense.<br><br>Good

I've already added the following URLS to the
club's LINKS area. These are the basic helpful links any
Yahoo! club founder or member should be familiar
with.<br><br><br>Yahoo! Clubs Help - Founder's

Yup... the subject sums it up. After seeing a
HUGE and FEATURED founders club going bonkers with not
much more than advertisements for other clubs, I
(reluctantly) decided to create this club.<br><br>Don't post
JUST to advertise your clubs. Listing your club in
your signature or comment space is perfectly
acceptable just make sure there's content in your post (NO
"hi club...signature" ad/posts). <br><br>Post
something about being a Yahoo Club founder or member. What
suggestions do you have for improving Yahoo Clubs? What works
for growing your club? When is it a good idea to
create an unlisted club? How do you manage the role of
founder on multiple clubs? How do you manage playing
founder on one club and member on others? How do you
promote chat events? There is power in
numbers.<br><br>Ask "How to" questions: "How do you do...[function of
your choice]?" We all have to learn
somewhere.<br><br>Through the contributions of its members this club can
become a powerful voice for education, quality, change
and improvement in Yahoo Clubs -- provided we work
and focus on that as our collective goal.<br><br>Good
day.<br><br>Mark
