Let me go back a step.
Is this the right code for people to listen to audios online (without
the extra dots in the code, which I added). I don't want the audio to
keep replaying, and do want them to shut it off and turn it on .

I'm getting a complaint from someone using Firefox and a PC.
He clicks on a box to get the audio started. He's hearing I hear at
least two, maybe three calls at the same time.
The page is
www.elevatingyourbusiness.com/marketingmadness/downloadpage.html
I'm sure that I have some part of the coding wrong! But none of my
HTML Validator programs is showing a problem.

Dunno, Nvu worked for me although I did get a "page cannot be edited for an
unknown reason" error message on one of my

Probably operator error.

Thank you, (I even learned a new word tonight - ubiquitous.

No such thing as RSS 2.1. The first Google search result for "RSS 2.1"
is some "press release" by a company called ExtraLabs. Ignore them.
Always refer to the official specification when designing RSS feeds and
test feeds against FeedValidator.
RSS 2.0 is ubiquitous.

If you use or want to use HTTPS/SSL but hate the price of SSL certs.,
you implement shopping carts for your clients, or just want to secure
your site a little more (e.g. WordPress admin - I know a few here run
blogs), this e-mail is for you.
I've been waiting a really long time but a company has FINALLY released
a product that makes sense. Most SSL certificates from Certificate
Authorities [CAs] (e.g. Verisign, GoDaddy, etc.) are generated without
ANY human interaction, which means they should cost less than $2. Yet
the various CAs charge $30+ for SSL certs.
StartCom arrives on the scene with this gem:
http://www.startssl.com/?app=40
The StartCom StartSSL CA is in the root certificate store of all major
browsers except Opera. They are working with Opera to get into the root
there as well and should be in that browser in the next couple months.
For most of the people here, the free StartSSL certificate program is
good enough.

Well, most likely there is a web request made per keypress. Since you
aren't using jQuery, I can only speculate as to any issues beyond that.
Most of the autocompletion scripts/jQuery plugins out there cache
results and minimize the number of requests made to the server by
delaying a few hundred milliseconds. This helps reduce load on the
target server.

Hi,
http://www.dynamicajax.com/fr/AJAX_Suggest_Tutorial-271_290_312.html
I've followed the above tutorial (press 'next' 3-4 times) and I have a
WORKING script :)
However, when I lift my finger 'key up' - It seems to be a 2-3 second
delay before it re-displays the screen.
I've looked through the ajax / Javascript code & cannot see any
indication of a 'delay' being added to the function.
Is this just general PC lag (connect to the internet & return the data
to my screen) ??
Or is there actually a delay area in the script (I basically copied
it, very little changes). I can't see any delay / wait commands,
though i am unfamiliar with javascript

Google does their own thing. However, what you are looking for is
called "autocomplete". A search for "jquery autocomplete" should bring
up some decent results but you won't find anything as fancy as what
Google does. It is essentially an iframe overlay carefully positioned
and sized below the input text field.

'Firebug' and 'Live HTTP Headers' are the two tools you will need to
watch what happens in Google search.

I know when you go to http://www.google.com, that uses Ajax to give
"suggestions" on what you type in..
EG suggested words/phrases get listed below the search box.
Query :- has anyone found an example of that code ?
2) in the above playground examples, I cannot see where the script
actually calls the script that does the search (I'll design the search
script in PHP...)
Does anyone know how it calls the php (or other) script ?
I'll check again tomorow night - Goodnight...

Favicons are cached by most browsers. Firefox, for instance, will look
for a new favicon when a link is visited and the page is fully loaded
and only update the cached icon if it has changed. I don't know how IE
handles favicons, but caching in IE tends to be more aggressive.

Hello.
it there any htaccess commands that I can use to REMOVE any ico /
favicon imagews from a directory (& sub directories)
Basically, a few days ago, I created a subdomain for a website, & all
the html code looks fine etc...
there is NO inage of the favicon in the browser when looking at the subdomain.
But - when I look at the SAME site, using the new domain name, it has
my favicon..
Ive checked each directory - Upwards, to the root directory, no ico file
Ive checked the HEAD area of the HTMl output, & no ico file.
ive checked my css file - No references to ICO file or anything..
I'll talk with the server admins now -
QUERY :- are favicons cach'ed ? the domain name DID point to my
existing site when I came home & that has my favicon.
i've now been online & pointed the domain to the correct directory....

Thankyou Nigel / Michael for an easy way to know when to use class / ID .
I've markled this thread as 'starred' - easy reference - I'll go &
look on my page & see whether I need it multiple times or not..
I wonder why online tutorials can't be written so easily - They answer
everything except the most basic questions that people NEED to know :)

Hi Gordon,
As I understand it, an ID was originally intended so you can jump to a certain
place in your page.
Example:-
<a href="#heading">Skip Navigation</a>
<h1 id="heading">Main Content Heading</h1>
That's why you cannot have more than one in a page, as it wouldn't know which
one to go to. It can be styled just the same as a Class. It seems now to have
been adopted for use as styling just like a Class.
I Class can't be jumped to, so that's the one that can have multiple references
to it.
You can also use both (and multiple classes) in the same tag.
<div id="column" class="centered large justified">
I sometimes use this to temporarily test sections, where I already have classes
created for other things.
But, unless you are jumping to the middle of a page (or using JavaScript for
something), there is no advantage to use IDs, except that ID is 3 characters
less than CLASS (grin).
Use all Classes if you're unsure.
Regards, Bob E.
You're right.
I got confused somewhere between book and keyboard.
# is id and can be used only once per page
. is class and can be used multiple times

I think you have those reversed....
<div id="part1"></div> is styled with #part1 in the css.
<div class="part1"></div> is styled with .part1 in the css.
id can be used only once per page. class may be used as many times in the page
as you wish.
So, if you put the following in your css....
.blue {color: blue;}
Anything on the page that you put the class="blue" attribute on will be styled
with the color blue.
<p class="blue">
<h1 class="blue">
<li class="blue">
All three of those will result in the included text being blue.
Michael
.name1 goes with <div id="name1">
<div id="name1"> can be used multiple times within a page.
id is used to give each element on the page a unique name and is required if
accessing elements with javascript.
#name1 goes with <div class="name1">
<div class="name1"> can only be used ONCE within any page.
Otherwise, they appear to be interchangable.

I've got a named div (table layout), which I want a certain colour
(borders) or no borders at all..
However, It is extracting the settings used for the other areas of the

Can anyone advise how to use stylesheets for a specific area (& not
