Possessed by the DEVIL!

( UPDATE ) I am contemplating reformating my hard drive and reinstalling Microsoft XP to rid my self of the Microsoft Vista Operating System. Pray for me because I don't want to lose important data while I endure this.. this.. VISTA-ECTOMY!

You see.. my computer is possessed by the Devil in the form of Microsoft VISTA! Until Vista entered my life, II was an unabashed supporter of what is known by many as the 'Evil Empire' Microsoft. Even with the years of computer memory leaks, blue-screens of death, and the Millennium edition of Windows I was ok with Bill Gates gaining wealth from the geek masses. I have for years used their Instant Messenger, MS Office products, managed my mail with Outlook and so had no problem looking the other way at Bill’s ‘little monopolies’ until.. UNTIL MY PC BECAME POSSESSED BY VISTA!

VISTA is the latest regurgitation of the Windows operating system... and just like playing with a Ouiji Board may be a channel to demonic forces, in the same way accepting a free upgrade to Vista.. my computer became a portal to the devil himself, and the devil’s name is BILL GATES!

Ok, I admit Bill Gates is not the devil or even the anti-Christ, but Vista has done unspeakable acts to my life and my dependence on computers.  Just like the little girl in the movie the Exorcist, I have found myself muttering, seething, eyes rolled back in my head while spitting curses in unrecognizable tongues, or more accurately guttural moans through clenched teeth.  I think my head even did that 360 turn thingy.

So very much like the man in the gospels found living among the tombs cursing, screaming, and out of control and controlled by a legion of demons, so I find myself living in my office and the tombs of dead (aka not responding) computer programs.  I curse, mutter, and cry while drinking too much coffee, as VISTA now controls my life!

My son Nate entered my office a while back and could see the angst on my face and asked what was the matter.  I mumbled, and waved my arms, and released another verbal tirade directed at an inanimate computer monitor screen which worked only to relay security, firewall, and not-responding program messages which had paralyzed my existence.  My son, who has overtaken me as the resident family computer geek looked at me with the compassion of Jesus Christ himself and knew the problem… and asked.. “Are you doing ‘Vista’?”  I did not have to even respond it was clear it was on my face and the computer monitor that I had went down that slippery slope of software compromise.  I was ashamed and broken like a man caught in a deep dark sin, and it all started the day I said “Yes” to the simple Vista upgrade.

Simple upgrade? HA.. there is no such thing as a ‘simple computer upgrade’ any more than there is an artistic slasher movie!

So the moral of the story today is.. We can’t stop computers.. we can only hope to contain them.. and BILL GATES!

This all brings me today to play again my ANTI-TRIBUTE to computers proving computers are from the devil.. and pc-possession is a dark and lonely existence.

Remember.. FRIENDS DON’T LET FRIENDS DO VISTA!
