Permaculture At Sivanada Yoga Ranch in the Catskill
Mountains 90 miles north of NYC.
Upcoming Workshops
MARCH 14-15 / MARCH

Tree Care and Pruning
Learn basic care and pruning techniques for
productive berry bushes, vines and fruit trees while tending the ashram's
expansive existing blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry patches, and mature
apple orchards. Learn the significance of pruning for extending tree life and
encouraging fruit yields. Help prepare future forest garden, compost piles,
silvopastoral plantings, and annual garden sites with soil amendments, compost
and sheet
mulching techniques.
Each full weekend will
feature a site tour and an introduction to yoga practice for newcomers.
Instruction is primarily experiential. We will learn by doing! Specific
activities each weekend will vary depending on the evolving needs of the site.
All levels of experience welcome! Workshop fees: $40 per day or $70-100 per
weekend sliding scale or $300-$450 for 5 full weekends, plus accommodations*.
*Additional accommodation fees include: brunch,
dinner, asana classes, and sauna begin at $55/night. For full ashram details

Schedule
To gain the full benefits with the Ashram yoga
practice and to understand the design site and its community, Permaculture
participants are required to participate in at least one satsang and one yoga
class per day. The yoga approach to permaculture begins with a practice to
balance
and sustain ourselves physically, mentally and spiritually. Group practice and
instruction is a tremendous aid making the yoga accessible to everyone serving
the individual and the community at the same time. Though the permaculture
workshops begin on Saturday, we suggest participants to arrive on Friday
afternoon or evening to settle in and get full benefit of the Yoga.
Michael Judd works with both visible and invisible
structures of permaculture weaving diversity between plants, people and
community. He has lived and worked in Latin America for the better part of the
last 15 years learning from indigenous peoples and agroecological systems.
Founder and Co-Director of Project Bona Fide, a non-profit organization in
rural Nicaragua, he has applied permaculture to increase local food security
and community health on the island of Ometepe. While he continues to fund raise
and raise awareness of his project in Nicaragua, Michael currently offers
design consultation and implementation services specializing in edible
landscapes along the east coast, and is resident-ecological-designer at
Sivananda Yoga Ranch.
