FYI, any hard vacuum tube when mated to some high voltage will produce some
X-Rays. The old style Tv set rectifiers got so bad at this that measures
eventually had to be taken to reduce the effect.
User surveys have returned the tube type number "2X2" as the one that makes
the most X-rays with the least amount of problem.

Personally I like the tube that is coated in a lead shielding material,
into which a slit may be cut to generate a sheet or cylinder beam of X-Rays.
Automobile coils, singly or stacked, Oudin coils ( like in the ad) and the
old style Cenco and Welch HV spark generator boxes all work well as drive
source.
Use an integrating type detector ( Ion Chamber) to realize the true dose
rate, not a Geiger type meter.
