I own both. I originally made the switch because Parallels wouldn't work
when trying to install FreeBSD.

I also was able to deploy a system where I installed windows with bootcamp.
Then, with VMware, I just point to the bootcamp partition and now I can run
Windows on boot or under VM. Running Windows off boot lets me run
other virtual apps under windows, but I mostly use it through VMware.
