first butterfly

I saw my first butterfly of the year today. It was a painted lady--its
colors were pretty faded and it seemed kind of battered up. It was flying
next to a building on Camp Dodge. It was partly cloudy and probably about
55 degrees when I saw it.

Seems to me we had some strong winds from the south a few days ago. I
suppose this butterfly started off a few hundred miles or more to the south
and came in on the wind.
