This list was originally created as an alternate list for members of IBM-Main to divert off topic chatter from the main list during the Y2K roll over weekend. I can't say it really failed it's mission that weekend since there were so few problems and very little traffic on either list other than the occassional "I made it" from various time zones.

I hesitate to disband this list since off topic chatter is still a problem for IBM-Main and the list owner, Darren, frequently warns off-topic posters to knock it off. I think this is a viable alternative for those who wish to continue off topic conversations in a group setting as opposed to person-to-person email which leaves out others who wish to continue participating and/or listening.
