Description
The main objective of the International Society of Tropical Foresters is the transfer of technology and science to those concerned with the management, protection and rational use of tropical forests. All individuals and organizations interested in tropical forests and natural resources are eligible for membership. The ISTF wants to promote an exchange of ideas and experiences and intends ISTF members to use this site as a forum for the discussion of issues.
Woody Biomass is our second focus of discussion as it pertains to tropical forestry. The main points to keep in mind during our discussions are:

• Sustainability,
• Cultivation options,
• Plantations,
• Types/species,
• Raw material and consumption: optimization of production, infrastructure, maximize energy production, (BTUs),
• Local versus Regional versus Global.

You will find--links to our ISTF website--containing some initial comments from members of ISTF, news articles and a bibliography for your use.

Please make your contribution of ideas and your position concerning the published comments. You know your Country and your contribution certainly is important to make the process take place. ISTF intends to analyze the discussions, conclusions and suggestions and to publish and send a letter of feedback to members and others that could use the results of the theme discussed.
