I have NIS installed on my PC. It is networked through a router to
another PC. I have internet connection thru a cable modem.
1. Is Windows XP firewall protection adequate? I ALSO have Norton
Internet Security, and I have to disable it each time to get Internet
Access. How can I NOT disable NIS and STILL have internet access?
2. Also, when I disable NIS , I am getting an annoying Security Alert
from NIS "FIrewall Protection is turned off". There is a check box
with a message next to ir "To prevent duplicate security alerts, use
my existing Norton product alterts and turn off redundant WIndows
Security alerts (Recommended)." Problem is even if I turn off the
check box and click OK the message keeps popping up. Is there a way to
keep this message from popping up so I can keep the Windows firewall
on and keep the other features of NIS running?
I have taken a snap shot of the screen message and saved it as a *pdf
file, which I have saved under "files" as fwall_alert.pdf so you can
see what the screen message looks like. I have the 2003 version of
NIS. Thank you for your kind assistance. Have a great day.
